OceanBase Database lets you modify the backup policy for Serverless instances. You can customize the backup cycle, backup time, data backup retention period, and the backup retention policy upon instance deletion as needed.

Prerequisites

Serverless instances are available. To purchase one, see Purchase an instance.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the OceanBase Management Console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Instance List.

  3. In the instance list, find the target Serverless instance and click its name to go to the Serverless Workspace.

  4. In the navigation pane on the left, click Backup and Recovery. On the Backup and Recovery page, click the Backup Policy tab to view the backup policy information for the instance.

    Note

Backups are enabled by default for Serverless instances. You can modify the backup policy as needed.

  5. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Modify Backup Policy.

    Parameter

    Description

    Backup file storage region

The backup files are stored in the same city as the current instance.

    Backup cycle

Select the days of the week for backups. The database is backed up weekly at your specified time.

For data security, perform at least one backup per week.

    Backup time

From the drop-down list, set the specific time for the backup.

    Note
    • Perform backups during off-peak hours.

    • Do not set the backup time within the data merge window (one hour before and after the data merge time). Otherwise, the backup job will be delayed.

    Data backup retention period

By default, backup data for Serverless instances is retained for 2 days. You can set the retention period from 2 to 365 days.

    Data backup type

Currently, only full backups are supported.

    Log backup

After the backup policy is configured and enabled, log backup is automatically enabled.

Backup retention policy upon instance deletion

Specifies whether to retain existing backup data when the instance is deleted. For Serverless instances, this can only be set to not retain backups.

    Note

This parameter applies only to level-1 backups in local backups.

  6. Click OK to submit the changes.
