High availability and disaster recovery are increasingly important for businesses. As a result, applications are often deployed across multiple accounts and regions. Each Alibaba Cloud service has default service quotas and resource limits for each region and account. Inconsistent quotas across these environments can cause failed failovers or service interruptions.

Priority

High

Not recommended

  • Manually setting resource quotas for each account and region.

  • Failing to regularly assess quota usage across all regions and accounts.

  • Failing to use quota templates to uniformly manage quotas across multiple regions.

  • Ignoring quota requirements for failover scenarios.

Implementation guide

1. Uniform quota management

  1. Review quota usage across your accounts and regions to detect service quota drift.

  2. Use Quota Center or CloudMonitor to check if quota usage is approaching 80% or 90%.

  3. For multi-account scenarios, use Resource Directory to manage all accounts from a central location.

  4. Enable quota templates in the management account.

  5. Use quota templates to request quotas for member accounts in batches.
