Bounce email: 503 RCPT account isn't a local account

Problem

When an email sent from Alibaba Mail fails to deliver, the sender receives a bounce message:

503 RCPT account isn’t a local account
554 RCPT (a***@example.net) dosn't exist

Cause

Possible causes:

• The sender may have misspelled the recipient's email address.

• The recipient switched from Alibaba Mail to another email service, but the domain record for the old account still exists.

Solution

1. Verify that the recipient's email address is correct, then resend the email.

2. Confirm whether the recipient still uses Alibaba Mail. If not, the recipient must log on to the Alibaba Mail console to unregister the account or detach the domain name, then resend the email.
