Reduce the number of purchased Alibaba Mail accounts by requesting a scale-in before your subscription expires.
Scenario
Reduce your account quota when purchased accounts exceed assignable accounts, or when business adjustments require fewer accounts.
Solutions
For paid editions of Alibaba Mail, you can request a scale-in only through online services within 30 days before your subscription expires. Outside this window, scale-in is unavailable due to pricing and duration constraints. Use the Alibaba Cloud account that owns the mailboxes to perform the operation.
The Free Edition of Alibaba Mail does not support scaling out or scaling in.
Scale-in procedure
Submit a ticket to enable this feature. After enablement, go to the Alibaba Mail console and choose Mailbox List > Manage > Scale In.

After enablement, reduce the number of users immediately. The feature is valid for only 3 hours and cannot be enabled frequently.

The new quota must be greater than or equal to the number of existing accounts. For example, if you purchased 50 accounts and have 40 existing accounts, you cannot reduce the quota below 40. To go lower, back up emails and delete the extra accounts first.

The quota cannot go below the minimum purchase quantity: Standard Edition (5), Premium Edition (10), Group Edition (100).

The Group Edition can only scale in by increments of 50 accounts.

A scale-in typically results in a refund. The refund amount is displayed on the page. If you purchased at a large discount, the refund may be zero.
