Terms

This glossary defines terms used in Message Push Service (MPS), listed alphabetically.

A

Android Device ID (Ad-token)

An Android Device ID (Ad-token) is a unique identifier for an Android device, generated by the client SDK. The Ad-token is one of the valid values for a Push Target ID.

Apache Dubbo (Dubbo)

Apache Dubbo is an open-source, distributed service framework that provides high-performance, interface-based Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and microservice management features. Unlike TR, Dubbo is a general-purpose open-source framework available across the broader ecosystem.

Apple Device Token

An Apple Device Token is a unique identifier that the Apple operating system assigns to each Apple device. APNs uses this token to route push notifications to the correct device.

Application ID

An Application ID uniquely identifies an application registered in MPS. The system generates it when you create the application.

Application Message ID

An Application Message ID is a unique identifier for a message. The system generates it automatically, or you can define a custom value.

B

Binding relationships

A binding relationship maps a device to a user identity. It supports two operations: attach (create the mapping) and detach (remove the mapping). With binding, you can address a user across multiple devices using a single User ID.

Broadcast Push

Broadcast Push sends the same message to all devices. You can use a Message Template and replace its parameters to generate message content dynamically.

M

Message ID

A Message ID is a unique identifier that MPS automatically assigns to each message.

Message Template

A Message Template is a reusable framework for generating message content. It supports fixed text, configurable message properties, and placeholder parameters that are replaced with actual values at send time. See also: Template parameters, Template parameter values.

Multiple Push

Multiple Push sends personalized messages to a set of target IDs in a single request. You provide one template and a set of parameter values — one per target ID — and MPS generates individualized message content for each recipient. Unlike Broadcast Push, which sends identical content to all devices, Multiple Push tailors the content per target.

P

Push Certificate

A Push Certificate establishes an authenticated connection between MPS and Apple's APNs server, allowing MPS to deliver notifications to iOS devices.

Push Target ID

A Push Target ID identifies the recipient of a push notification. It can be one of three values: an Android device's Ad-token, an iOS device's Apple Device Token, or a user identity (userId). The context of the push operation determines which type to use.

S

Simple Push

Simple Push delivers a message to a single Push Target ID.

T

Taobao Remoting (TR)

Taobao Remoting (TR) is Ant Group's internal framework for RPC-based service communication. Unlike Apache Dubbo, TR is not available as an open-source project.

Task name

A task name identifies a single message push request. Each push request is one task.

Template parameters

Template parameters are the variable parts of a Message Template, also called template placeholders. At send time, each parameter is replaced with a corresponding value. See also: Template parameter values.

Template parameter values

Template parameter values are the actual content used to replace each placeholder in a Message Template when a message is generated.

Template Push

Template Push generates the content of a push message for a single target ID by replacing the parameters in a Message Template with specified values. Unlike Multiple Push, Template Push targets one recipient.

U

User ID

A User ID identifies a user across one or more devices. Unlike a Push Target ID — which addresses a specific device — a User ID is typically set during user login and bound to one or more devices. You can use a User ID as the Push Target ID when sending to a bound user.
