Site verification

To complete site verification, first obtain a verification code from a platform. Then, paste the code on the Site Verification page in your website backend, save and publish your site, and return to the platform to finish the verification process.

1. Get a verification code or file from Baidu

1. Add your website. Log in to the Baidu Search Resources Platform and navigate to User Center > Site Management > Add Website.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your domain and site properties.

   Important

   • When entering your domain, select the HTTP or HTTPS protocol based on whether your site has a security certificate. Selecting the wrong protocol will cause the verification to fail.

   • When you specify the site properties, provide accurate information about your website's business category. If you make a mistake, you must wait 30 days before you can modify the information.

3. Verify your website. In the third step, Verify Website, choose either file verification or HTML tag verification. Both methods are supported in the website backend, but we recommend using HTML tag verification.

   • If you choose file verification, click Download verification file to obtain the verification file. The page provides three methods: File Verification, HTML Tag Verification, and CNAME Verification.

   • If you choose HTML tag verification, copy the provided code. The verification code is a tag.

     Important

     Do not complete the verification on the platform yet. You must first upload the file or paste the code on the site verification page in your website backend. For details, see Upload a file or paste a code in the website backend.

2. Get a verification code from 360

1. Add your website. Log in to the 360 Webmaster Platform and navigate to Webmaster Tools > Site Management > Add Website. A list of your added websites is displayed.

2. Verify your website. Enter your website name, click Verify, and choose either HTML code verification or file verification.

   • If you choose HTML code verification, click Copy code to obtain the verification code. In the Verify Site dialog box, select the Code Verification tab. The tab displays the verification code, which is a tag.

   • If you choose file verification, click File Verification > Verification file to download the verification file. In the dialog box, switch to the File Verification tab to see the download link and instructions.

   Important

   Do not complete the verification on the platform yet. You must first upload the file or paste the code on the site verification page in your website backend. For details, see Upload a file or paste a code in the website backend.

3. Get a webmaster verification code from Sogou

1. Add a website: Log on to the Sogou Webmaster Platform, click User Center > Add Website, and enter the website information as prompted. After you go to the Website Management page, a list of websites is displayed.

   Note

   When you enter the domain, include the protocol prefix, such as https://www.aliyun.com.

2. Verify your website. After adding your site, click Verify Site, select HTML Tag Verification, and copy the code. The page displays a tag for verification and an example of its placement in the HTML section.

   Important

   Do not complete the verification on the platform yet. You must first paste the code on the site verification page in your website backend. For details, see Upload a file or paste a code in the website backend.

4. Verify your site with Google

1. Add a website: Log in to Google Search Console, enter your domain name in the Domain field on the left, and click Continue. A Please select property type dialog box appears, providing two types: Domain and URL prefix.

2. Verify domain ownership by using a DNS record. In the new dialog box, click Copy to copy the TXT record. Then, log in to the Alibaba Cloud account that manages your domain and go to the Domain Console . On the Domain List page, find your domain, click Manage , and then click Add Record .

   Note

   Use the following information to configure the record:

   • Record Type: TXT.

   • Host Record: @.

   • Record Value: Paste the TXT record that you copied.

   You can leave the other settings as their default values.

3. After adding the record, wait one to two hours for it to propagate. Then, log in to Google Search Console again and click Verify.

Upload file or paste code in the backend

If you are verifying your site with Baidu, 360, or Sogou, you must return to your website backend to upload the verification file or paste the verification code before you click Finish verification on the respective platform.

1. Go to the site verification page. In the navigation pane of your website backend, navigate to Website Management > Site Verification. The page has two sections: HTML Tag Verification and File Verification. The tag verification section provides a text box for the code and a Save button. The file verification section allows you to upload a Baidu verification file, 360 verification file, Taobao-union verification file, or WeChat promotion verification file.

2. Complete the setup. Paste the code into the text box and click Save.
