Using domain names in a WeChat Mini Program

This article shows you how to manage and configure domain names in the Alibaba Cloud Wanwang WeChat Mini Program. Before registering a domain name, you must create an information template to streamline the registration process.

If your desired domain name is already registered, you can purchase it from the current owner through the domain marketplace. For detailed instructions, see domain purchase.

  • domain backorder: At least 75 days.

  • Buy Now (Premium Selection): 1 to 5 business days.

  • domain brokerage: Takes effect immediately.

  • Domain Auctions: Delivery time aligns with the domain name's deletion time by the registry.

registrant transfer

You must perform a registrant transfer if the real-name verification is incomplete, the registrant's details change, or ownership is transferred due to a sale or ICP filing. For detailed instructions, see registrant transfer.

3 to 5 business days.

domain transfer in

If you have a domain name registered with another domain registrar, you can transfer it to Alibaba Cloud for management. For detailed instructions, see domain transfer in.

5 to 7 business days. The actual duration depends on the registry's processing speed or confirmation time from the original registrar.

DNS server modification

When you need to switch your domain name's DNS servers to a third-party registrar, Alibaba Cloud DNS, or self-managed DNS servers, you can perform a DNS server modification. For detailed instructions, see DNS server modification.

Domain operations

Log in

  1. Open the WeChat app, search for Alibaba Cloud Wanwang in Mini Programs, and then select Alibaba Cloud Wanwang | Domain Name and Trademark Query and Filing to access the Domain Console.

  2. Go to the My tab and tap Log In. Then, authorize with your mobile number and select the corresponding account.

Information template

  1. Go to the My tab, tap Information Template, and select Create Template to fill in the required information.

  2. Fill in the information. The following example uses Individual as the Registrant Type.

    To submit documents, select the ID Type, upload the document, and fill in the Chinese Template Information section, including your region, postal code, and email address. Verify your email address with a verification code to complete the submission.

    Note

    The review is typically completed within 1 to 3 business days.

    You must also provide the Registrant's ID Number, Registrant's Name, Mailing Address, and Mobile Number. After filling in the information, tap Submit.

  3. Check review status: On the My tab, tap Information Template to view the review status.

    On the information template list page, you can find a specific template by searching for the registrant's name or by using the Registrant Type and Template Status filters. The template card displays a status label, such as Verified or Email Verified.

Domain registration

  1. Check domain name availability.

    On the Home tab, use the whois tool to check the availability of your desired domain name. If the domain name is already registered, you can use the brokerage service or other methods described in domain purchase to acquire it.

  2. Register the domain name.

    1. On the Home tab, enter the domain name you want to register in the search bar.

    2. After entering the domain name, tap Register Now next to it to begin registration.

  3. Complete the order information.

    1. Select an information template and choose a registration period. If you do not have a suitable information template, you can create one. For details, see Information Template.

      The order confirmation page displays the registrant information and purchase details (domain name, price, and period). If you have a promo code, enter it in the designated field. Select the checkbox for I have read, understood, and agree to the Domain Name Service Agreement, then tap Confirm Order.

    2. Optional: Enter a promo code. On the order confirmation page, tap the promo code field to enter it. For details on how to obtain a promo code, see How do I get a domain promo code?.

    3. Proceed to payment. You can pay with WeChat Pay, Alipay, or Huabei.

  4. Check the domain name status. On the My tab, select All Domains to view the detailed status of your newly registered domain name.

Domain renewal

  1. Go to the My tab.

  2. In the Common Functions section, tap Renew/Redeem to start the domain renewal process.

  3. Select the domain name(s) you want to renew.

    Tap the Batch Renew/Redeem button at the bottom.

  4. On the Confirm Order page, select the renewal period. If you have a promo code, enter it. Then, tap Confirm Order to proceed to payment.

  5. After completing the payment, the domain name is renewed.

Domain sale

  1. Go to the My tab.

  2. In the Common Functions section, tap Seller Center to manage domain sales.

  3. Select Initiate New Sale and fill in the required information.

    1. To select a domain name, tap Select from Domain List and choose the domain name you want to sell.

      In the Sale Method section, select Buy Now.

    2. Enter pricing: Input the Receivable Price, and the Customer-facing Price will be automatically populated.

      Note

      The customer-facing price includes a 15% markup on the seller's price to cover taxes and service fees. This fee is paid by the buyer. The seller incurs no additional charges.

      Set the Listing End Time. You can choose Long-term or Custom.

    3. Identity verification: Use a text message verification code to authorize the sale.

  4. In the Seller Center, tap Domains for Sale to view the status of your listed domain names.

Alibaba Cloud provides this service through partners, allowing you to backorder and bid on expiring domain names.

Sum of the winning bid price and the domain renewal fee.

At least 75 days after winning the bid.

Buy Now (Premium Selection)

Domain names are listed directly by Alibaba Cloud users. Alibaba Cloud facilitates the entire transaction and issues an invoice to the buyer. Payment can be made using your Alibaba Cloud account balance, online payment, or offline bank transfer.

Price shown on the order.

The domain name is delivered to the buyer's account within 1 to 5 business days.

domain brokerage

Submit a request through the Alibaba Cloud console to acquire a specific domain name. Alibaba Cloud and its partners will negotiate the price with the seller on your behalf to finalize the transaction.

  • Consultation fee: CNY 1.00.

  • The final, agreed-upon purchase price for the domain name.

Delivered as soon as possible after payment.

Domain Auctions

A marketplace for domain names that are up for auction. Users who have not placed a backorder can join an auction directly by paying an entry fee.

  • Domain purchase fee: After winning the auction, the buyer pays a fee corresponding to the domain's backorder type.

  • Entry fee: CNY 50.00. This fee is non-refundable, regardless of the auction outcome.

    Note

    The entry fee cannot be used as a deposit or applied to the final auction price.

Delivery time aligns with the domain name's deletion time by the registry.

Domain backorder

  1. Go to the Domain tab and tap Domain Backorder.

  2. Use the Backorder Type and Custom Filter options to find and backorder your desired domain name.

  3. View backorder results: Switch to the My tab and select My Backorders to see the domain names you have backordered.

Buy Now

  1. Go to the Domain tab and tap Buy Now.

  2. Use the Quick Filter and Custom Filter options to find the domain name you want to purchase.

    In the Buy Now list, you can see the name and price of each domain name. Tap Purchase next to the target domain name to complete the payment.

  3. View purchase results: Switch to the My tab and select Purchased Domains to see the result.

Domain brokerage

  1. Go to the Domain tab and tap Domain Brokerage.

  2. Fill in the Desired Domain Name, your Budget, and Your Name.

    After submission, a domain brokerage expert will contact you by phone within two business days to confirm the details and help you acquire the domain name.

    The Your Mobile field defaults to your account's mobile number but can be changed. The consultation fee is currently CNY 1.00 (original price: CNY 180). Select the checkbox to agree to the Important Notice, then tap Consult Now to submit.

Domain Auctions

  1. Go to the Domain tab and tap Domain Auctions.

  2. Use the Backorder Type and Custom Filter options to find the domain name you want to purchase.

    The results list displays the domain name, price, and actions. Tap the Enter button next to a domain name to participate in its auction.

Registrant transfer

  1. Go to the My tab and select All Domains.

  2. Tap the More button next to the domain name you want to transfer, and then select Transfer Registrant to fill in the required information.

  3. Select the information template for the new registrant and tap Submit. If you have not created a template, you can tap Create Template here. For details, see Information Template.

Domain transfer in

  1. Go to the Domain tab and select Domain Transfer In.

  2. On the Domain Transfer In Details page, enter the Domain Name and authorization code.

    Note

    To transfer a domain name from one registrar to another, you must obtain an authorization code from your current registrar.

  3. Select a verified information template. If you have not created one, see Information Template. Tap Next, review the order amount, and then tap Pay.

DNS server modification

  1. Go to the My tab and select All Domains.

  2. Tap the target domain name, select More, and then tap DNS Management to modify the DNS servers.

    Note

    Rules for DNS server modification:

    • You must enter 2 to 3 DNS servers for a generic top-level domain (gTLD) and up to 6 for a country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) in China.

    • Do not enter spaces or special characters.
