Modify an automatic snapshot policy

Modify the settings or tags of an automatic snapshot policy to adjust snapshot schedules, retention periods, or resource organization.

Modify the settings of an automatic snapshot policy

Configurable settings include the policy name, snapshot creation time and day, retention period, and cross-region replication.

Note

Default policies named default_policy created after May 1, 2024 cannot be modified.

  1. Go to ECS Console - Automatic Snapshot Policy.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.

  3. On the Automatic Snapshot Policies tab, find the target automatic snapshot policy and click Modify Automatic Snapshot Policy in the Actions column.

  4. On the Modify Automatic Snapshot Policy page, modify the parameters.

    For parameter descriptions, see Create an automatic snapshot policy.

    Note

    Changes to the Retention Period apply only to new snapshots. For example, if you change the retention period from 20 days to 10 days, new snapshots are retained for 10 days while existing snapshots remain at 20 days.

  5. Click OK.

Modify the tags of an automatic snapshot policy

Tags identify resources with shared characteristics, such as policies that belong to the same organization or serve the same purpose.

  1. Go to ECS Console - Automatic Snapshot Policy.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.

  3. On the Automatic Snapshot Policies tab, find the target automatic snapshot policy, move the pointer over the Tag icon in the Tag column that corresponds to the policy, and click Modify.

  4. In the dialog box, select or create tags, and click OK.
