Starting January 5, 2024, at 00:00:00, outbound Internet data transfers from Function Compute are billed through Cloud Data Transfer (CDT). This change does not affect your running functions or existing business.

What changes:
Outbound Internet data transfers are now billed by CDT, not by Function Compute directly.
Outbound Internet data plans for Function Compute are no longer available for purchase after 00:00 on January 5, 2024. Plans purchased before that date remain valid for their full validity periods.
What you need to do: Nothing. CDT billing is applied automatically. No configuration changes are required.
CDT billing
CDT is a centralized billing service for Internet data transfers across multiple Alibaba Cloud services. For details, see What is CDT?
Under CDT billing, the following apply to Function Compute outbound Internet data transfers:
Tiered pricing: CDT aggregates traffic from Function Compute and other CDT-supported Alibaba Cloud services. Higher total transfer volumes qualify for lower per-GB rates.
10 GB monthly free quota: Each month, CDT provides 10 GB of free outbound Internet traffic over Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) lines. This quota applies across all CDT-supported services and can be combined with other discounts.
Outbound only: Function Compute is charged only for outbound Internet traffic. CDT billing does not introduce charges for inbound traffic.

Free quotas for new and existing users
Users are classified as new or existing based on when they activated Function Compute:
New users: Activated Function Compute after 00:00:00 on December 19, 2023.
Existing users: Activated Function Compute before 00:00:00 on December 19, 2023.
New users
CDT is activated automatically for new Function Compute users at no charge. New users receive a free CDT Internet data plan that provides 100 GB of outbound Internet traffic per month for 3 months. This quota also offsets Internet data transfers from other CDT-supported services, such as Elastic Compute Service (ECS) and Classic Load Balancer (CLB).
After the free quota is used up or the 3-month period ends, pay-as-you-go billing through CDT applies automatically.
Existing users
To offset the impact of this billing change, existing users receive a 100 GB monthly quota of outbound Internet traffic for 12 months, starting January 5, 2024, at 00:00:00. This quota applies only to outbound Internet data transfers from Function Compute.
After the 12-month period ends or the monthly quota is used up, CDT charges any excess usage on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Free quotas are distributed automatically. To verify your quota:
Log in to the Alibaba Cloud Management ConsoleResource Plan.
Go to the Manage Reserved Instances page.
New users can view the free quota after 00:00 on December 19, 2023. Existing users can view it after 00:00 on January 5, 2024.
