Switch from subscription to pay-as-you-go

You can directly switch from the subscription billing method to the pay-as-you-go (pay-by-bandwidth) billing method.

You cannot directly switch from the subscription billing method to other pay-as-you-go billing methods, such as pay-by-dominant-traffic or pay-by-enhanced-95th-percentile.

You must first switch to the pay-as-you-go (pay-by-bandwidth) billing method. Then, you can upgrade or downgrade the instance to switch to a different pay-as-you-go billing method.

Scenarios

  • You can only convert pay-as-you-go (pay-by-bandwidth) Internet Shared Bandwidth instances with a bandwidth of 1000 Mbps or higher to subscription Internet Shared Bandwidth instances.

  • If an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance has unpaid orders, you must pay for or cancel them before you can execute the transform operation.

The switch takes effect immediately after you pay for the order.

After you submit the conversion order, you must make an upfront payment for the Internet Shared Bandwidth instance based on the subscription billing rule.

For information about the billing rules for subscription Internet Shared Bandwidth, see Subscription.

Scenarios

  • If the Internet Shared Bandwidth instance has unpaid orders, you must first pay for or cancel the unpaid orders before you execute the conversion operation.

  • Renewal orders generated for compensation due to reasons such as ICP filing, data center failures, or data center migration are not refundable.

Warning

After the switch, the instance is not released. Make sure that your account has a sufficient balance to prevent service interruptions caused by overdue payments. If you no longer need the instance, back up its data and then release it in the console.

The switch takes effect immediately after you pay for the order.

A refund may be generated when you switch from subscription to pay-as-you-go.

Only the amount that you paid is refunded to your original payment method. Coupons are not refunded.

For more information about how refunds are calculated when you switch from subscription to pay-as-you-go, see Refunds for switching from subscription to pay-as-you-go.

Switch between pay-as-you-go billing methods

Pay-as-you-go Internet Shared Bandwidth instances support the Upgrade/Downgrade feature. This feature lets you modify the bandwidth peak and billing method of an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance to switch between different pay-as-you-go billing methods.

Before you switch, note the following information:

Scenarios

  • Before the new billing method for the Internet connection takes effect, you cannot submit another order to change the peak bandwidth.

  • If an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance has unpaid orders, you must pay for or cancel the orders before you execute the conversion operation.

  • If you see a message indicating that unpaid orders exist but cannot find any in the order list, this is usually because a paid but not-yet-effective configuration change order exists. For example, an order to switch the billing method takes effect at 00:00 (UTC+8) the next day. Wait for the pending order to take effect, or cancel the pending order, before you make another billing method change.

An order to switch the billing method for an Internet connection by upgrading or downgrading the instance usually takes effect at 00:00 (UTC+8) the next day. If you switch from pay-by-enhanced-95th-percentile to another billing method, the switch takes effect at 00:00 (UTC+8) on the first day of the next month.

After you submit the upgrade or downgrade order, the system starts billing based on the new configuration.

FAQ

How do I choose the most cost-effective billing method for Internet Shared Bandwidth?

The following recommendations can help you choose the most suitable billing method:

  • Stable traffic peaks: Choose pay-by-bandwidth.

  • Large and frequent traffic peak fluctuations: Choose pay-by-enhanced-95th-percentile.

  • Unpredictable traffic: Choose pay-by-dominant-traffic.

  • Long-term stable use: Consider switching to subscription for lower prices.

Note

Switching from pay-as-you-go (pay-by-bandwidth) to subscription is only supported for instances with a bandwidth of 1,000 Mbps or higher. If your instance has a bandwidth below 1,000 Mbps (for example, 15 Mbps), switching to subscription is not supported, and the current pay-as-you-go configuration is the most cost-effective option available.
