OSS offers public, internal, and dual-stack endpoints in multiple regions worldwide. The following table lists the endpoints and internal VIP CIDR blocks for each region. For details on how and when to use each endpoint type, see Access OSS by using endpoints and bucket domain names.
Accessing HTML files, images, or other objects using the OSS access domain name forces a download instead of an online preview. To enable file preview, access OSS using a custom domain name.

FAQ
Choosing a region
Consider the following factors when choosing a region:
Proximity: Choose the region closest to your primary users or applications to reduce network latency and improve access speeds.
Interconnection with other cloud services: When other cloud services and OSS are in the same region, they can communicate over the internal network, which eliminates outbound traffic costs.
Cost: Product prices and promotional offers vary by region. For more information, see OSS Pricing.
Compliance: Data compliance requirements differ across regions and industries. Choose a region that meets your business requirements.
Feature availability: New features are often released for public preview in specific regions. To use the latest features, create your Buckets in the designated regions. For more information, see Release notes.
You can use the curl command to test the access latency from your local network to OSS Endpoints in different regions. Lower time_connect and time_starttransfer values typically indicate better network quality.
curl -o /dev/null -s -w "Connect: %{time_connect}s\nStart Transfer: %{time_starttransfer}s\nTotal: %{time_total}s\n" "https://oss-<region-id>.aliyuncs.com"Inconsistent international region names
The names of some international regions may be displayed differently on the OSS Pricing page and the resource pack purchase page, but they all refer to the same physical location. For example, the US (Silicon Valley) region may be displayed as US West 1 or US West on different pages. For more information, see OSS产品定价 or purchase resource packs.
Slow or unstable cross-border access
Cross-border data transfer over long distances, such as from the Chinese mainland to the China (Hong Kong) or Singapore regions, traverses long-haul public network links and multiple carrier interconnects. Factors such as physical distance, route complexity, and public network congestion can cause high latency or connection instability.
Co-locate resources
Deploy in the same region (preferred solution): Deploy your business applications, such as ECS instances and Container Service, in the same region as your object storage Buckets. Within the same region, traffic is routed over Alibaba Cloud's high-speed internal network, bypassing the public network and cross-border links.
Avoid unnecessary cross-border connections: For core production workloads, avoid direct, long-distance cross-border read and write operations over the public network. Migrating your entire business application to the region where your data is stored is the most effective architectural solution to prevent network instability.
Use Transfer Acceleration
If your use case, such as global content delivery or off-site disaster recovery, requires occasional cross-border data transfer, use the OSS Transfer Acceleration feature. For more information, see Access OSS by using Transfer Acceleration.
