Use the Quick Purchase page on the PolarDB console to create a PolarDB cluster with minimal configuration.

Prerequisites

You have registered for and logged in to an Alibaba Cloud account.

Note

PolarDB provides the price calculator and resource plan calculator. You can use the calculators to obtain information about the product pricing, estimate costs, and select a product type that meets your business requirements.

  • Price calculator: allows you to estimate the overall cost based on the details and storage capacity of the cluster that you select.

  • Resource plan calculator: allows you to estimate required compute capacity and storage capacity based on your business requirements and usage duration. The calculator can also provide recommendations on the specifications of storage plans and compute plans for clusters with defined specifications.

Procedure

  1. Go to the PolarDB Quick Purchase page and configure the following parameters. Keep the other settings at their default values. For a detailed guide on creating a cluster, see Custom Purchase.

    Parameter

    Description

    Billing Method

    • Subscription: A prepaid method where you pay in advance for fixed-specification resources. Longer subscriptions receive larger discounts. This option is ideal for stable, long-term workloads.

    • Pay-As-You-Go: A postpaid method where you are billed for fixed-specification resources based on actual usage. This option is ideal for flexible workloads.

    • Serverless: Pay-as-you-go model. When you create a cluster, you do not need to select fixed resource specifications or pay for the cluster in advance. This model provides a PolarDB cluster with dynamic and elastic scaling, allowing it to adjust its resources based on changes in the system workload. It is generally suitable for scenarios that involve business fluctuations, uncertain workloads, or unpredictable business demands.

    Note

When you use a PolarDB cluster, if you find that its current billing method does not meet your business needs, you can change the billing method at any time.

    Region

Select the region where you want to deploy the cluster.

    Note

For optimal performance, create your PolarDB cluster in the same region as the connecting ECS instances. Connections across different regions must use the public internet, which degrades performance.

    Database Engine

Select the database engine for the cluster. Quick Purchase supports only .

    Note

To purchase other versions, select the Custom Purchase tab in the upper-left corner.

    Service Edition

Select the database edition for the cluster.

    • Enterprise edition

    • Standard edition

    Note
    • You only need to select the database edition for the cluster if the billing method is subscription or pay-as-you-go.

    • The enterprise edition and standard edition offer different features. For more information, see Comparison of Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition.

    Network Type

Configure the VPC and vSwitch for the cluster.

    Note
    • If you have an existing VPC and vSwitch that meet your network requirements, select them. For example, you can use the VPC of an existing ECS instance.

    • If you do not have a suitable VPC, you can use the default VPC and vSwitch.

    Deployment Mode (Optional)

Select the number of nodes and the high-availability (HA) mode for the cluster.

    • Single-node Deployment: Contains only one primary node (a read/write node).

      • Number of nodes: 1.

      • HA mode: Single AZ (Hot Standby Storage Cluster disabled).

    • Dual-node Deployment: Contains one primary node (a read/write node) and one read-only node.

      • Number of nodes: 2.

      • HA mode: Single AZ (Hot Standby Storage Cluster disabled).

    • Cross-zone HA: Contains one primary node (a read/write node) and one read-only node. Data is replicated across a primary and a secondary availability zone.

      • Number of nodes: 2.

      • HA mode: Dual AZs (Hot Standby Storage Cluster enabled).

    Note

This parameter is required only if the billing method is subscription or pay-as-you-go.

    Node Specifications

Select the compute node specification. To purchase other specifications, select the Custom Purchase tab.

    Storage capacity (Optional)

Configure the storage capacity of the cluster.

    Note

This parameter is required only if the billing method is subscription or pay-as-you-go and the database edition is standard edition.

    More Configurations (Optional)

    Parameter

    Description

    Resource Group

    Select an existing resource group.

    Note

A resource group is a container for managing related resources within a single Alibaba Cloud account. A resource can belong to only one resource group.

  2. In the order summary on the right, confirm that all settings, such as billing method, region, deployment mode, and resource group, are correct. Then, configure the following parameters:

    Parameter

    Description

    Quantity

Select the number of clusters to purchase.

    Note
    • You can create up to 50 clusters in a single order. This is useful for scenarios such as launching game servers in batches.

    • Your Alibaba Cloud primary account can purchase up to 50 clusters.

    Subscription Duration

This parameter is required only for the Subscription billing method. Specify the subscription Subscription Duration and configure auto-renewal.

    Note

We recommend enabling auto-renewal to prevent service disruptions due to expiration.

Review the total cost and the detailed cost breakdown, such as for compute specifications, storage, and network. Click Buy Now. This action indicates that you have read and agree to the service agreement and any product-specific terms you have selected on this page (if any). On the Payment page, confirm the order details, select a payment method, and then click Pay.

After a successful purchase, cluster creation takes 10 to 15 minutes. You can then find the new cluster in the cluster list.

Note
  • If a node's status is Creating, the cluster is unavailable. The cluster is ready for use only when its status is Running.

  • Ensure you have selected the correct region; otherwise, the cluster you created will not be visible.
