This topic describes how to configure the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) dynamic routing protocol for a Smart Access Gateway device in the Smart Access Gateway console.
Prerequisites
Your Smart Access Gateway device must be an SAG-1000 model. Background information
Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) is a widely used link-state dynamic routing protocol that operates within an autonomous system. OSPF automatically builds a link state database and generates a shortest-path tree by advertising the status of network ports between routers. Each OSPF router then uses these shortest paths to construct its routing table, which enables rapid convergence and reduces network latency. If your on-premises network topology changes frequently, consider using the OSPF dynamic routing protocol. OSPF dynamically learns and adjusts routes in real time based on network changes. This reduces network latency and eliminates the need for manual configuration, simplifying network management and maintenance.
Procedure
- Log on to the Smart Access Gateway console.
- Navigate to the Device Settings page in one of the following ways:
- Click the ID of the target Smart Access Gateway instance. On the instance details page, click Device Settings.
- In the Operation column of the target Smart Access Gateway instance, click .
- On the Device Settings page, click the Manage Routes tab.
- In the OSPF Protocol Settings section, click Edit.
- On the Configure OSPF Protocol page, set the basic OSPF parameters.
Parameter Description Area ID The OSPF area ID. Valid values: 1 to 2,147,483,647. Hello Time The interval, in seconds, at which a hello packet is sent. Valid values: 1 to 65,535.
Dead Time The interval, in seconds, after which a neighbor is considered down if no hello packet is received. Valid values: 1 to 65,535.
Authentication Type Select an authentication method: - Disable Authentication: No authentication is used.
- Plain Text: You must enter a password.
The password must be 1 to 8 characters long and can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).
- MD5 Authentication: You must specify the MD5 Key ID and MD5 Key.
The MD5 Key ID must be an integer from 1 to 2,147,483,647.
The MD5 Key must be 1 to 47 characters long.
Router ID The router ID of the Smart Access Gateway in the OSPF domain. The ID must be in IPv4 address format. Example: 192.168.1.1. Area Type The default area type is NSSA. - In the Dynamic Routing Settings section, select Enable OSPF Protocol.
- In the Operation column for the target port, click Edit.
- On the Modify OSPF Dynamic Routing Settings page, select an option and then click OK.
- Enable OSPF: Enables the OSPF protocol on the target port.
- Disabled: Disables the OSPF protocol on the target port.
