When a Server Migration Center (SMC) migration task fails with the "S8_*: Failed to prepare for disk partition data synchronization" error, the transit service or network connectivity on the destination instance may be at fault.
Problem description
During an SMC migration, the migration task fails and reports the error "S8_*: Failed to prepare for disk partition data synchronization". The S8_* error code can be one of the following:
-
S8_U28
-
S8_U7
-
S8_U56
-
S8_U6
Causes
The SMC client on the source server fails to prepare for disk partition data synchronization. Possible causes:
-
The transit service (port 8080) on the destination instance is abnormal.
-
The source server cannot access the destination instance over port 8080.
Solutions
-
For more information, see Error S11: Failed to connect to the transit service on the destination instance.
-
After you resolve the network issue, run the SMC client to retry the operation. For more information, see Run the SMC client.
