Unsubscribe from WAF

Updated at:

When you no longer need WAF, you can stop billing by closing or unsubscribing from your instance. This topic describes how to close a pay-as-you-go instance, unsubscribe from a subscription instance, and unsubscribe from a SeCU resource plan.

Warning

Unsubscribing from a subscription instance or closing a pay-as-you-go instance releases the instance. If your domain uses a CNAME record to connect to WAF, WAF can no longer forward requests after the instance is released, making your website inaccessible. Before you unsubscribe or close an instance, ensure that you switch all web traffic from WAF back to the origin server.

Close a pay-as-you-go WAF instance

Pay-as-you-go instances are billed in real time based on actual usage, so refunds are not applicable. If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go instance, follow these steps to close it.

  1. Log on to the Web Application Firewall 3.0 console. From the top menu bar, select the resource group and region (Chinese Mainland or Outside Chinese Mainland) for the WAF instance.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click Overview.

  3. If you already have services protected by WAF, skip this step. Otherwise, the page displays Welcome to Web Application Firewall (WAF). Click Go to Console to go to the Overview page.

  4. In the Edition Information area, click Terminate WAF Service.

  5. In the confirmation dialog, review the risks of releasing the instance and click OK. After the instance is closed, the final bill for today is generated the next day (T+1), and no further charges are incurred.

Unsubscribe from a subscription WAF instance

Important

Subscription instances with Multi-cloud/Hybrid Cloud Protection, Bot Management for Web, Bot Management for App, Major Event Protection, or API Security enabled do not support self-service unsubscription in the console. Contact your account manager for assistance.

Unsubscription rules

Refunds for subscription WAF instances apply only to payments made with cash or prepaid cards. Amounts paid with vouchers or coupons are not refundable. The specific rules are as follows:

1. Refund scenarios

  • Unactivated renewal orders: Full refund is available.

  • Active resources: Partial refund is available. You will receive a refund for the unused portion of the subscription.

2. Refund calculation formula

Refund amount = Actual paid amount of the original order - Consumed amount

3. Calculation example

Assume you purchased a 3-year WAF instance:

  • Original price: CNY 193,680.00

  • Actual paid: CNY 135,576.00 (30% discount for a 3-year term)

  • Unsubscription scenario: Request unsubscription on day 365 (1 year of actual use, which corresponds to a 15% discount).

Calculation:

  • Daily unit price: 193,680.00 ÷ (365 × 3)

  • Consumed amount: (Daily unit price × 365 × 0.85) × 1.5

  • Final refund: 135,576.00 - Consumed amount = CNY 53,262.00

Note

The daily unit price is calculated as the original price divided by the total number of days. The factor 1.5 is the refund coefficient, meaning the consumed portion is deducted at 1.5 times. For more detailed rules, see Unsubscription rules.
