After you sign in to the desktop client, your assigned cloud computers appear as cards. These cards let you connect to your cloud computers and manage their power.

Important

This topic uses the macOS client V7.13 and the Enterprise Edition as an example. If your experience differs from the description in this topic, you may be using a different client or an outdated version. Upgrade to the latest version. For more information about the Personal Edition, see Personal Cloud Computer.

Prerequisites

Connect and disconnect

Connect

If the cloud computer card shows Running in the upper-right corner, click the icon to connect.

If the cloud computer card shows In Use in the upper-right corner, click Show Window to display the cloud computer window.

Note

After you sign in to the client, if you have only one cloud computer, it may connect automatically. To change this setting, see Auto-connect a sole cloud computer.

Disconnect

After connecting to a cloud computer, you can disconnect in the following ways:

  • When the cloud computer is not in full-screen mode, click the icon in the upper-right or upper-left corner of the window.

  • Click the DesktopAssistant, and then click Disconnect.

Auto-connect a sole cloud computer

If you have only one cloud computer, you can choose whether to automatically connect to it after you sign in.

  1. In the upper-right corner of the cloud resource list, click the icon and select Security Center.

  2. On the Login Security tab, in the Auto-connect a sole cloud computer section, select one or more of the following options:

    • Auto-connect a running cloud computer

    • Auto-wake and connect a hibernated cloud computer

    • Auto-start and connect a stopped cloud computer

Manage power

Like a physical computer, a cloud computer can be started, shut down, restarted, and hibernated. You can manage its power from the cloud resource list in the client.

Start

When the cloud computer card is gray and shows Stopped in the upper-right corner, click the icon to start it.

After the cloud computer starts, the card shows Running in the upper-right corner.

Shut down

Important

Shutting down terminates all running processes, and you will lose any unsaved files and data. Before you shut down the cloud computer, save or back up your data.

You can shut down a cloud computer in the following ways:

Shut down directly

  • Shut down from within the cloud computer. This method is available only for Windows cloud computers that use the Adaptive Streaming Protocol (ASP).

    • Open the DesktopAssistant, click Shut Down, and then click OK.

  • Shut down from the cloud resource list in the client. After disconnecting from the cloud computer, on the target cloud computer's card, select Power > Shut down, and then click OK.

    Note

For cloud computers accessed via the desktop client or web client, you can shut them down only from the cloud computer card.

Scheduled shutdown policy

You can configure a Scheduled Task Policy to automatically shut down the cloud computer after it has been disconnected for a specified period.

  1. On the cloud computer card, click Manage, and then click Policy.

  2. In the Scheduled Task Policy section, select a disconnection duration and set the action to Shut down.

    Note

If your administrator has disabled policy modification, the settings on this panel are read-only.

Hibernate

Hibernation saves all open files and running processes on the cloud computer. After waking the cloud computer, you can easily resume your work.

Note
  • Hibernation is not supported for High-frequency General-purpose and all Graphics-accelerated cloud computer types.

  • Hibernation is not supported in the following regions:

    • Philippines (Manila)

    • SAU (Riyadh - Partner Region)

    • China (Shanghai) Finance Cloud

    • China North 2 Alibaba Gov Cloud 1

  • If a cloud computer remains in the hibernated state for 15 consecutive days, it is automatically shut down. Save your data regularly.

  • Only cloud computers that are Running or In Use can be hibernated. You cannot create or use a restore point for a cloud computer that is Hibernated.

Hibernate directly

  1. On the cloud computer card, select Power > Hibernate.

On a Windows cloud computer that uses the Adaptive Streaming Protocol (ASP), you can also open the DesktopAssistant on the cloud computer desktop and select Power > Hibernate, unless you are connected via a web client.

  2. In the dialog box that appears, click Hibernate now.

    Note

A hibernating cloud computer card shows Hibernated in the upper-right corner. Click Connect to wake and connect to it. Waking the cloud computer typically takes about 30 seconds.

Scheduled hibernation policy

You can configure a Scheduled Task Policy to automatically hibernate the cloud computer after it has been disconnected for a specified period.

  1. On the cloud computer card, click Manage, and then click Policy.

  2. In the Scheduled Task Policy section, select a disconnection duration and set the action to Hibernate.

    Note

If your administrator has disabled policy modification, the settings on this panel are read-only.

Restart

Important

Restarting terminates all running processes, and you will lose any unsaved files and data. Before you restart the cloud computer, save or back up your data.

You can restart a cloud computer in the following ways:

  • Restart from within the cloud computer. This method is available only for Windows cloud computers that use the Adaptive Streaming Protocol (ASP).

    • Open the DesktopAssistant, click Restart, and then click OK.

  • Restart from the cloud resource list in the client. After disconnecting from the cloud computer, on the target cloud computer's card, select Power > Restart, and then click OK.

    Note

For cloud computers accessed via the desktop client or web client, you can restart them only from the cloud computer card.
