After you create cloud computers, you can manage their lifecycle from the Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) console, including starting, stopping, restarting, and releasing them.

Start a cloud computer

Start one or more cloud computers that are in the Stopped state.

  1. Log on to the EDS enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Management > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the EDS Enterprise page, start cloud computers using one of the following methods.

    • Start a single cloud computer: Find the target cloud computer and click Start in the Actions column.

    • Start multiple cloud computers: Select one or more cloud computers and click Start/Wake Up at the bottom of the page.

      Note

You can select up to 100 cloud computers at a time.

  5. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

Stop or restart a cloud computer

Stop or restart one or more cloud computers that are in the Running state.

Warning

Before you stop or restart a cloud computer, remind your end users to save their work to prevent data loss.

Billing

  • Pay-as-you-go cloud computers: Compute resource fees stop after the cloud computer is shut down.

    Important
    • Storage resources (system disks and data disks) continue to incur fees while the cloud computer is stopped.

    • Basic bandwidth is free. However, if you have enabled premium public bandwidth (billed by data transfer), fees may still apply after the cloud computer is stopped or hibernated. Charges continue as long as inbound traffic exists, such as background downloads or automatic updates. To stop these charges, you must Delete a plan.

  • Monthly subscription (unlimited hours) cloud computers: Compute and storage resources continue to be billed after shutdown.

  • Monthly subscription (120 hours/month or 250 hours/month) cloud computers: Shutdown pauses the usage hour deduction within your plan quota. If the quota is exhausted and you continue using the cloud computer, additional compute fees apply. These extra fees stop when the cloud computer is shut down. For more information, see Billing rules.

  • Duration package cloud computers: Shutdown pauses usage hour deduction from the package. Because duration package cloud computers are not billed by compute or storage resources separately, no other fees are incurred after shutdown.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the EDS enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Management > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the EDS Enterprise page, stop or restart cloud computers using one of the following methods.

    • Stop or restart a single cloud computer: Find the target cloud computer and click Shut Down or Restart in the Actions column.

    • Stop or restart multiple cloud computers: Select one or more cloud computers and click Shut Down or Restart at the bottom of the page.

      Note

You can select up to 100 cloud computers at a time.

  5. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

Release a cloud computer

If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go cloud computer, you can manually release it from the console.

Warning

After a cloud computer is released, all data on it is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Back up your data before you proceed.

Limits

  • Only pay-as-you-go cloud computers can be manually released. Monthly subscription cloud computers are automatically released if they are not renewed within the specified period after expiration.

  • You can release only cloud computers that are in the Running, Stopped, Expired, or Failed to create the role. state.

Billing

After a cloud computer is released, you are no longer charged for its resources, including compute resources (vCPU/GPU and memory) and storage resources (system disks and data disks).

Procedure

  1. Log on to the EDS enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Management > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the EDS Enterprise page, release cloud computers using one of the following methods.

    • Release a single cloud computer: Find the target cloud computer and click Release in the Actions column.

    • Release multiple cloud computers: Select one or more cloud computers and click Release at the bottom of the page.

      Note

You can select up to 100 cloud computers at a time.

  5. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.
