Purchase resource plans
Resource plans reserve capacity in advance at a lower rate than pay-as-you-go pricing and are billed upfront. This topic describes how to choose resource plans for each Cloud Backup scenario.
Usage notes
Resource plans are purchased based on total demand. For example, the Storage Space for Database Backup plan for ECS database backup is sized for the total backup capacity of all your databases; you do not need a separate plan for each database. Except for Storage Space for Database Backup, all other data sources share the same Backup Storage plan.
Traffic fees are billed pay-as-you-go only and cannot be covered by resource plans. For more information, see Pricing.
When you hold a valid resource plan that matches the billable item, Cloud Backup deducts fees from the plan first, and usage beyond the plan capacity is billed pay-as-you-go. You can buy plans on the New Resource Plan purchase page.
Resource plans are not region-specific, and can offset backup fees in any region of your account. You can purchase multiple plans, and the total capacity is the sum of all your plans.
A resource plan is not bound to any backup data; it is applied only as a billing deduction. Therefore, you do not need to unbind or rebind a plan when you purchase a new plan, replace a backup client, or create or delete a backup vault.
A resource plan can be used only by the Alibaba Cloud account that purchased it and the RAM users in that account. It cannot be transferred to another account.
Resource plan types
The following table lists the resource plan for each data source type. Choose the plan that matches the data sources you back up.

Scenarios
The following table lists the resource plan types to purchase for each backup scenario.
✓ indicates that you purchase the plan as needed in that scenario, x indicates that the plan is not required, and Optional indicates that you purchase the plan only when you use Backup Point Virus Detection in that scenario.
Database backup covers MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server deployed on ECS instances and on-premises servers, but not SAP HANA.

Comparison of old and new resource plans
Old resource plans you have purchased remain usable but can no longer be upgraded or renewed. Purchase new resource plans instead. The following table maps each old plan name to its new name.
