You can increase the bandwidth only for Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instances that have a fixed bandwidth. Increasing the bandwidth allows your website to support more concurrent users, improves access speed and performance, and strengthens your defense against high-traffic network attacks, such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. This topic describes how to increase the bandwidth for a Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instance.
Precautions
You cannot upgrade the bandwidth of a Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instance that has a fixed bandwidth. You can only increase the bandwidth by purchasing additional bandwidth. The following instances have fixed bandwidth:
Data center
Hostname

China (Hong Kong) data center
Dedicated Economy Edition
Standard Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instances (other data centers)

If your Cloud Web Hosting instance meets one of the following conditions, you must complete the required action before you increase the bandwidth.
If a fixed-bandwidth Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instance expires in less than one month, you must renew the instance before you increase the bandwidth. For more information, see Renew a Cloud Web Hosting instance.
When you upgrade a fixed-bandwidth Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instance, the new instance can use the remaining bandwidth from the old instance if the additional bandwidth is still valid. After the additional bandwidth expires, you can purchase more.
Limitations
You cannot directly increase the bandwidth for Shared Cloud Web Hosting instances. You must first upgrade the instance to a fixed-bandwidth Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instance and then increase the bandwidth. For more information, see Upgrade a Cloud Web Hosting instance.
Some Dedicated Cloud Web Hosting instances come with a high-speed data transfer plan. You cannot directly increase the bandwidth for these instances. Instead, you can upgrade the instance to increase the data transfer plan, which also increases the bandwidth. For more information, see Upgrade a Cloud Web Hosting instance.
