Renew, purchase, and top up in the Alibaba Cloud App

The Alibaba Cloud App allows you to renew and purchase cloud products, and top up your account balance. This helps you manage your cloud resources on the go, ensuring your services run without interruption.

Limitations

When you renew or purchase cloud products, or top up your account in the Alibaba Cloud App, only Alipay and UnionPay QuickPass are supported.

Renew cloud products

The Alibaba Cloud App supports renewals for a variety of mainstream cloud products, including ECS, Simple Application Server, and databases. The app provides multiple filtering options for expiration dates and renewal settings, allowing you to quickly manage resource renewals on your mobile device. This topic walks you through renewing a subscription ECS instance as an example.

The Alibaba Cloud App supports the following renewal methods:

Note

You can only view the renewal method for a resource in the Alibaba Cloud App. To change the renewal method, you must use the Alibaba Cloud console. For more information, see Renew an expiring resource.

  • manual renewal: You must proactively renew the resource. If a resource expires and is not renewed, it may be reclaimed or released.

  • automatic renewal

    • If you enable automatic renewal for a resource, the system automatically deducts the fee from your account balance to renew the instance before it expires. Ensure your account has a sufficient balance to avoid a failed renewal.

    • If the automatic renewal payment fails, the system sends you a notification. Be sure to check your system notifications.

    • You can also manually renew a resource that is configured for automatic renewal. You will not be charged twice for the same renewal period.

  • non-renewal

    • If you no longer need a resource, you can set it to non-renewal.

    • The system will no longer send you expiration notifications for this resource. After the resource expires, it enters a reclamation state and is eventually released.

    • You can also manually renew an instance that is set to non-renewal. After renewal, you can continue to use the resource during the new subscription period.

  1. Go to the ECS - Subscription page.

    Urgent renewals

    By default, the Urgent Renewals screen displays resources that will expire within 15 days and resources that are Expired.

    1. Open the Alibaba Cloud App, tap the Console tab at the bottom, and then tap Urgent Renewals in the pending events area.image

    2. Tap ECS - Subscription.

      Note

      On the Manual Renewal tab, you can select Expires within 15 Days to filter the resources that you want to renew.

    Renewal management

    By default, the Renewal Management screen displays resources that will expire at any time and resources that are Expired.

    1. Open the Alibaba Cloud App, tap the Console tab at the bottom, and then tap Renewal Management.image

    2. Tap ECS - Subscription.

      Note

      On the Manual Renewal tab, tap All to select an expiration time range to filter the resources that you want to renew.

  2. Tap the region of the target ECS instance, for example, China (Hong Kong).image

  3. Select the target instance and tap Renew Now.image

  4. In the Subscription Duration section, tap 1 Month.

    Note

    You can tap Other Durations to select a different subscription period.

  5. In the Instances to Renew section, review and confirm the target instance information, and then tap Pay Now at the bottom to complete the payment.

    Note

    If you have a coupon that applies to the renewal order, the system automatically applies the coupon. You can tap View Details to check. Only one coupon can be used per order.

  6. After you complete the payment, tap View My Instances.image

  7. Select the region where the instance is located to view information about your renewed ECS instance.image

Purchase cloud products

The Alibaba Cloud App supports the purchase of various mainstream cloud products, including ECS, Simple Application Server, and databases. This topic walks you through purchasing a subscription ECS instance as an example.

  1. Open the Alibaba Cloud App, tap the Discover tab at the bottom, and then tap Purchase at the top.image

  2. Tap the image icon. On the Cloud Products page, tap Compute. You can select a category based on the cloud product that you want to purchase.image

  3. In the Compute section, find ECS. In the ECS section, tap Buy Now. You can scroll down the list of cloud product types to find the product that you want.image

  4. Select the instance configurations and tap View Details at the bottom.

    Note

    By default, automatic renewal is disabled, which means that the instance is set to manual renewal. You can enable automatic renewal in the instance configurations when you purchase the instance.

  5. Confirm the billing details and tap Buy Now to proceed with the payment.

    Note

    If you have coupons applicable to the product, they are automatically deducted in the Billing Details.

    • Coupons must match the product type, billing method, such as subscription, and minimum spending requirements.

    • A coupon is locked to an unpaid order. You can use the coupon again after the order is canceled.

  6. On the payment page, tap the drop-down list to expand payment options, enter the amount to deduct from your account balance, and then tap Pay.

  7. After you complete the payment, tap View My Instances.image

  8. Select the region where the instance is located to view information about the purchased ECS instance.image

Top up your account

The Alibaba Cloud App provides an account top-up feature. You can monitor your balance and add funds from your mobile device. This ensures that you have a sufficient balance to maintain your cloud products and make new purchases. For more information about top-ups, see Online top-up.

Note

If your account has overdue payments, see Top up for overdue payments.

Limitation: You cannot use Huabei or credit cards that are linked to an Alipay account to top up your account balance.

  1. Open the Alibaba Cloud App, tap the Me tab at the bottom, and then tap Billing Management.image

  2. In the Available Credit section, tap Top-up.

  3. Enter or select a Top-up Amount (CNY), choose a Payment Method, and then tap Confirm Top-up to proceed with the payment.image

  4. After the payment is complete, tap Got It.image

  5. Return to the Billing Management screen to view your updated Available Credit.

FAQ

What products can I renew in the Alibaba Cloud App?

Currently, the Alibaba Cloud App supports renewals for the following products: ECS, ApsaraDB RDS, Domain, Web Hosting, Tair (Redis OSS-compatible), Simple Application Server, ApsaraDB for MongoDB, Server Load Balancer (SLB), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Anti-DDoS Pro, Web Application Firewall (WAF), Elastic IP Address (EIP), VPN Gateway, Express Connect, PolarDB, NAT Gateway, Anti-DDoS Origin, Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN), Cloud Parallel File System (CPFS), ApsaraDB for HBase, and EDAS.

We are continuously adding support for more products. If you need to renew a product that is not listed, submit a suggestion by navigating to Me > Support Center > Suggestions.

I have an instance that needs to be renewed, but I cannot see it in the app. Why?

  1. Refer to the What products can I renew in the Alibaba Cloud App? FAQ to check if your product is supported for renewal in the app.

  2. The instance that you want to renew might be set to automatic renewal or non-renewal. Tap the tabs at the top of the page to switch views.

Why don't I see any available coupons when I try to renew or purchase a product?

  1. In the Alibaba Cloud App, navigate to the Me > Billing Management > Coupons page to check whether you have available coupons.

  2. Check the coupon's balance, expiration date, applicable products, and usage conditions.

  3. If you have an unpaid order, the coupon might be locked. You must cancel the unpaid order before you can use the coupon.
