Message Push lets you define target audiences by assigning tags to users. When you push a message, you can specify a user tag to send the message to all users with that tag.

A tag is a user property that describes basic attributes, interests, or behaviors. After you assign a tag to users, you can select user groups with common features for targeted pushes. For example, you can assign a "female" tag to female users. Then, you can select the group with the "female" tag to send exclusive messages to them on International Women's Day (March 8).

The relationship between users and tags is many-to-many. A user can have multiple tags, and a tag can be assigned to multiple users.

Create user tags

Creating a user tag involves assigning a tag to a group of users who share common features.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log on to the mPaaS console and select the target application. In the left navigation pane, choose Message Push > Settings > User Tag Management.

  2. Click Create User Tag. In the panel that appears, specify the tag name and add the audience.

    • Tag Name: The tag name should reflect the features of the audience for easy management. You can enter up to 30 characters. The tag name must be unique within the application.

    • Add Audience: You can add an audience directly or by importing a file.

      • Add Directly: Enter one or more user IDs in the text box. Separate multiple user IDs with a comma (,). Each user ID can be up to 60 characters long. User IDs that exceed this limit will not be added. The total length of all user IDs cannot exceed 10,000 characters.

      • Import from File: Upload a .txt file that is no larger than 100 MB and contains user IDs. In the file, separate multiple user IDs with a line feed. Each user ID can be up to 60 characters long. User IDs that exceed this limit will not be added. You can upload a maximum of 500,000 user IDs. The system automatically removes duplicate IDs during the import process.

  3. After you complete the configuration, click Submit to create the tag. The new user tag appears in the list.

View user tags

The user tag list displays tags in descending order of creation time. The list includes Tag Name, Tag ID, Audience Size, Creation Time, and Update Time.

  • Tag ID: An ID that is automatically generated by the system after the tag is created.

  • Audience Size: The number of user IDs in the tag's audience.

In the user tag list, click Details in the Operation column to view the details for that tag.

Edit user tags

In the user tag list, click Edit in the Operation column to edit the tag name or modify the users associated with the tag.

For more information about modifying the users for a tag, see the add audience section in Create user tags.

Delete user tags

In the user tag list, click Delete in the Operation column to delete a user tag. When you delete a tag, all user associations with that tag are also deleted.

Export tag audiences

In the user tag list, click Export in the Operation column to download the list of users for that tag.
