Configure Alibaba Cloud video

Video-related concepts

• Video storage space: The free video storage space allocated to this site. It is not affected by renewal.

• Total traffic: The total amount of free traffic currently available for this site. Renewal increases this amount.

Guide to configuring Alibaba Cloud video

1. Click Activate ApsaraVideo VOD and purchase a suitable package on the ApsaraVideo VOD page.

   Note

   • Data transfer plan: If your website uses Alibaba Cloud video controls, your video storage space is sufficient, but the video traffic included in your plan has been exhausted and videos no longer play, purchase a data transfer plan.

   • Transcoding plan and storage plan: If your website uses Alibaba Cloud video controls and you have reached the upload space limit of your current plan but still need to add more videos, upload them to Alibaba Cloud by purchasing both a transcoding plan and a storage plan.

2. Add a domain name: In the ApsaraVideo VOD console, click Distribution Acceleration Configuration > Domain Names > Add Domain Name in the navigation pane on the left, enter the required information, and submit.

   Note

   Enter the following information when adding a domain name:

   • v.+ the domain name bound in your website backend (for example, v.kkk.xyz).

   • Type: OSS domain name.

   • Port: Port 80.

   • Acceleration region: Select based on your actual needs.

3. In the Domain Names page of your website backend, copy the CNAME record value for your domain name (hover your mouse over the icon next to the configured entry and click the rightmost icon in the pop-up box to copy). To obtain the CNAME record value, go to the Domain Names page in your website backend, click Domain Names in the navigation pane on the left, find the DNS record corresponding to your target domain name in the domain list, and copy it.

4. Return to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console. In the toolbar on the left, under Products and Services, search for Domain Names and click to enter the Domain Names console. In the Domain Names List, find your website domain name and click the DNS button on its right to go to the DNS settings page. On the DNS Settings page, click Add Record.

   Note

   Enter the following information when adding a DNS record:

   • Record type: CNAME.

   • Host record: v.

   • Record value: Paste the CNAME record value you copied earlier here.

   • Leave all other fields at their default values.

5. Configure Alibaba Cloud API: Hover your mouse over your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the Alibaba Cloud Management Console and click AccessKey Management > Use RAM User AccessKey to go to the Users page.

   Note

   • To ensure account security, use a RAM user and grant only video-related permissions to that user.

   • When creating a new user, select Console Password Logon as the access method.

6. Grant permissions to the RAM user: On the Users page, create a RAM user. After creation, click Add Permissions, search for Manage ApsaraVideo VOD permissions, select this permission, and confirm to complete authorization.

7. Obtain the AccessKey ID and AccessKey secret: Click the Logon Name of your configured user, then click Authentication > Create AccessKey to obtain your AccessKey ID and AccessKey secret.

8. Return to the Alibaba Cloud video configuration page in your website backend and enter the AccessKey ID and AccessKey secret.
