Connect to an instance

1. Log on to the Hologres management console.

2. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

3. Click Go to HoloWeb to open the HoloWeb developer page.

4. You can connect to an instance in one of the following ways:

   • Connect by using the pop-up dialog box

     If you open HoloWeb without any connected instances, the Connect to Instance dialog box appears. In the dialog box, configure the parameters and click OK to connect to the instance.

     Parameter	Description
     Instance name	You can select an existing disconnected instance from the drop-down list. Note The list of disconnected instances includes all instances in the current region that you can access with your primary account. After you activate a Hologres instance, Hologres automatically adds a disconnected instance of the VPC network type to the list, marked with the icon. You cannot edit or delete this instance.
     Select database	You can select one of the following options: Connect to an existing database: Select the target database from the Database Name drop-down list. Create a new database: Enter a name for the database and configure a permission model for it.
     Database name	If you are connecting to an existing database, select the target database from the drop-down list. If you are creating a new database, enter a name for the database.
     Permission model	This parameter appears only when you select Create a new database. You can configure permissions for the database based on your business needs. For more information about permission models, see the following topics: SPM SLPM expert permission model

   • Connect from the list of disconnected instances

     In the Instances Disconnected list, right-click the target instance and select Connect to Instance. In the dialog box that appears, configure the parameters and click OK to connect to an instance. For parameter details, see Parameter descriptions for connecting to an instance.

   • Connect by adding an instance

     On the Metadata Management tab, click Instances to connect to an instance in a different region. When configuring the parameters, set Logon after connection to Yes to connect to the instance immediately. For more information about adding an instance, see Connect to an instance.

5. Once an instance is connected, it appears in the Instances Connected list. You can right-click the instance to perform management operations. For more information about instance management, see Manage instances.
