Remove a service provider

If your domain has a successful ICP filing with Alibaba Cloud but you no longer use an Alibaba Cloud server to host your website or app, you must remove Alibaba Cloud as the service provider for your filing. You will then need to add your new service provider to your ICP filing record. This topic explains the prerequisites and provides step-by-step instructions for removing Alibaba Cloud as the service provider for your ICP filing.

What is removing a service provider?

Removing a service provider disassociates your ICP filing information from Alibaba Cloud. This action is irreversible. If you remove a service provider by mistake, you must prepare the required ICP filing materials and repeat the process to add a service provider.

  • To keep your ICP filing number and use a server from another provider: You must remove Alibaba Cloud as the service provider and then add the new provider.

  • If you do not need to keep your ICP filing number:

Impacts of removing a service provider

  • Your domain will no longer be able to access Alibaba Cloud servers in the Chinese mainland.

  • Used ICP filing service codes are not refunded or reusable : A successful ICP filing for a website or app consumes one ICP filing service code from your server. This code is then marked as used and cannot be applied to other websites or apps. If you later remove Alibaba Cloud as the service provider, the code remains used and cannot be reused.

  • For domain suffixes not approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), if you remove Alibaba Cloud as the service provider for your ICP filing and have no other provider, your filing may be classified as a shell entity. The communications administration may then revoke your filing, and you may be unable to obtain an ICP filing for these domains again. Proceed with caution.

    Note

    To see a list of domain suffixes approved by the MIIT, visit the MIIT website and check the list under China's Internet Domain Name System. Any domain suffix not on this list is considered unapproved.

After removing Alibaba Cloud as your service provider, the status of your entity's ICP filing may change. If your entity has other service providers, your entity information and ICP filing number are not affected and remain under the management of the other providers. However, if Alibaba Cloud is your only service provider, removing it will leave your entity without a provider, making it a shell entity. The local communications administration may then revoke your entity's ICP filing number. We recommend that you first add your new service provider before removing Alibaba Cloud. This ensures your entity always has at least one associated service provider.

Procedure

You can remove the service provider by using a PC or the Alibaba Cloud app. The procedure is nearly identical for both. The following steps use the PC-based procedure as an example.

Single website or app

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud ICP Filing system.

  2. Find the target website or app and click Cancel Access.

  3. In the verification dialog box, enter the required declaration and click Next.

  4. On the Information Confirmation page, confirm the website or app details, and then select a Verification Method.

    • Service Contact Mobile Number: Select the mobile number of the contact person for the website or app, and then click Send Verification Code.

    • Alibaba Cloud Account Security Mobile: Your account's security mobile number is displayed. Click Send Verification Code.

  5. The system sends a verification code to the selected mobile number. Enter the verification code and click Confirm Submission.

Batch cancel access

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud ICP Filing system.

  2. In the Internet Information Services section, click Batch Cancel Access.

  3. Select one or more websites or apps, and then click Confirm.

  4. In the verification dialog box, enter the required declaration and click Next.

  5. On the Information Confirmation page, confirm the website or app details, and then select a Verification Method.

    • Service Contact Mobile Number: Select the mobile number of the contact person for the website or app, and then click Send Verification Code.

    • Alibaba Cloud Account Security Mobile: Your account's security mobile number is displayed. Click Send Verification Code.

  6. The system sends a verification code to the selected mobile number. Enter the verification code and click Confirm Submission.

    Note

    After submitting a batch request, the system automatically splits it into individual requests and submits them to the relevant communications administration.
