Resource plan

NAS supports self-service unsubscription for resource plan instances. Refunds are issued based on unsubscription rules. After you unsubscribe from a resource plan, the storage capacity of your file systems that was deducted from the resource plan is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. Ensure that your Alibaba Cloud account balance is sufficient.

NAS supports three types of resource plan unsubscriptions: Five-day No-use Unsubscription, Partial-refund Unsubscription, and Unstarted Renewal Unsubscription. Before you unsubscribe from a NAS resource plan, familiarize yourself with the unsubscription rules, notes, and examples. For more information, see Unsubscription Rules.

  • NAS supports a five-day unused unsubscription for a resource plan if all the following conditions are met:

    • The resource plan is unused (not used for deduction).

    • The resource plan was purchased less than five days ago.

    • The resource plan was not purchased through an upgrade or renewal.

  • If a resource plan was purchased more than five days ago, NAS supports a partial refund for the resource plan before it expires.

  • If a resource plan has an unexpired renewal, NAS supports unsubscription for the unexpired renewal period.

Note

If you received a discount when you purchased the NAS resource plan, the discount amount is not refunded.

After you understand the unsubscription rules, you can request a refund on the Resource Unsubscription page in the Expenses and Costs console. For more information about the specific operations, see Unsubscribe from a NAS resource plan instance.

Pay-as-you-go

Pay-as-you-go NAS resources are billed in real-time based on actual usage. Therefore, refunds are not applicable.

If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go NAS resource, you can release it after you ensure that the data in the NAS file system is backed up or migrated and that your services are not affected. After the resource is released, billing stops. To release resources, perform the following operations:

Not applicable.

Subscription

Subscription Extreme NAS file system instances support self-service unsubscription. When you unsubscribe from a resource, the instance is released and a refund is issued based on the unsubscription rules.

Subscription Extreme NAS file system instances support five-day unconditional unsubscription, partial refund unsubscription, and unsubscription for unexpired renewal periods. Before you unsubscribe from a File Storage NAS resource, read the unsubscription rules, notes, and examples. For more information, see Unsubscription rules.

Refund amount = Actual amount paid for the order - Amount consumed

Amount consumed = Daily price of the subscription × Usage duration × Discount applicable to the usage duration

Note

If you received a discount when you purchased the subscription, the discount amount is not refunded.

After you understand the unsubscription rules, you can request a refund in the Expenses and Costs console. For more information about the specific operations, see Unsubscribe from a subscription Extreme NAS file system instance.

Storage plan

A storage plan for a General-purpose NAS file system is a subscription billing method. It can be used only to deduct the storage capacity costs of the file system to which it is attached.

After a storage plan is attached to a file system, you cannot manually detach it. The storage plan is automatically detached only after the General-purpose NAS file system instance is deleted.

If you no longer need a storage plan for a General-purpose NAS file system, you can release the file system after you ensure that the data is backed up or migrated and that your services are not affected. After the resource is released, billing stops. To release the resource, see Delete a file system.

Note

If a storage plan has expired, you do not need to release the General-purpose NAS file system instance. The storage plan is automatically released upon expiration and can no longer be used. In this case, the General-purpose NAS file system is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. If you want to continue to receive discounts, we recommend that you purchase a resource plan. Compared with storage plans, resource plans do not need to be attached to a file system. They can be used to deduct the storage capacity costs of multiple General-purpose NAS file systems and can be stacked.

If you want to switch the billing method before the storage plan expires, please submit a ticket.

Warning

Unsubscribing from a subscription Extreme NAS file system resource, deleting a pay-as-you-go file system instance, or deleting a file system instance to which a storage plan is attached releases the file system instance. After the file system instance is released, requests to access the NAS file system fail. Before you unsubscribe from a subscription instance or delete a pay-as-you-go NAS resource, ensure that the data in the NAS file system is backed up or migrated.

  • For orders paid after March 29, 2019, if you unsubscribe within 18 months (548 days) of payment, the refund is typically returned to the original payment source. For example, if you paid for a cloud product order using Alipay or online banking, the refund is returned to the Alipay or online banking account that was used for the payment. If you paid using your Alibaba Cloud account balance, the refund is returned to your account balance.

    Important

If an invoice has been issued for the unsubscribed order, the refund is returned to your account balance. After you return the invoice, you can withdraw the funds from your account balance to your original payment source.

  • In other cases, the refund is returned to your Alibaba Cloud account balance. If the refund to the original payment source fails, the refund is also returned to your Alibaba Cloud account balance.

  • If the product unsubscription is successful, the refund is typically processed within two business days. Refunds apply only to the amount paid for an order in cash or with a stored value card. The amount paid using vouchers or coupons is not refunded.

  • For orders paid through online banking that are unsubscribed and eligible for a refund to the original payment source, the funds are expected to arrive within two to three business days because of bank processing times.

FAQ

How do I deactivate NAS or stop being charged for NAS?

The shutdown feature for the NAS service is temporarily unavailable to prevent disruptions to your business. However, you can use the following methods to shut down the NAS service or stop billing for it.

  • Pay-as-you-go

If you no longer need to use a pay-as-you-go NAS file system, make sure that the data has been migrated or is no longer used. Then, unmount the directory from the compute node, log on to the NAS console, and delete the file system from the file system list. This way, no fee is deducted in the next billing cycle. For more information about how to delete a file system, see Delete a file system.

    Note

If the files that you store in a General-purpose NAS file system have not been accessed for more than 14 days but you still want to retain the files, we recommend that you enable the lifecycle management feature to dump the files to the IA or Archive storage class. This way, you can reduce the costs by 50% to 80%.

For more information about how to switch storage classes using the lifecycle management feature, see Configure lifecycle policies.

  • Subscription

You cannot delete a subscription Extreme NAS file system using the console or by calling API operations. For information about how to delete a subscription Extreme NAS file system, see Unsubscribe from a subscription Extreme NAS file system. If you unsubscribe from a file system, the data stored in the file system is directly deleted. Before you unsubscribe from a file system, make sure that the data has been migrated or is no longer used.

  • Storage plan

For a General-purpose NAS file system to which a storage plan has been attached, you cannot manually detach the storage plan. You can detach the storage plan only by deleting the related General-purpose NAS file system. For information about how to replace a storage plan with a resource plan, see How do I replace a storage plan with a resource plan?

  • 资源包

    对于使用资源包进行抵扣存储容量费用的文件系统,如果您不需要使用资源包抵扣文件系统存储容量,您可以根据退订规则退订已购买的资源包实例。更多信息,请参见退订NAS资源包实例
