Learn about the features of the OOS AI Assistant for Alibaba Cloud CloudOps Orchestration Service (OOS).
1. Function overview
The Alibaba Cloud CloudOps Orchestration Service (OOS) AI Assistant is an intelligent operations management tool based on natural language interaction. It lets you query, monitor, and manage cloud resources using text-based instructions. Its core features include the following:
Complex instruction parsing: The assistant uses a large language model (LLM) that is deeply optimized for Alibaba Cloud scenarios. It understands complex instructions, such as "list all running ECS instances in the Hangzhou node". The assistant automatically detects your intent and calls the required Alibaba Cloud OpenAPI to perform the operation. This provides end-to-end execution from natural language to cloud resource operations.
Unified query entry point: Query global resource information from a single dialog box without switching between different cloud product consoles or regions.
Secure and controlled execution: All write operations, such as deleting or stopping instances, trigger a secondary confirmation by default. This feature, combined with RAM role-based permission control, ensures operational security.
Monitoring data calls:
Real-time metrics: Obtain fast responses for metrics such as CPU, memory, network traffic, and latency.
Historical trends: Automatically generate visualization charts for a specified time period.
Cross-platform operations: The assistant is compatible with the Alibaba Cloud Management Console and DingTalk robots. This enables collaborative operations and maintenance (O&M) on both PC and mobile devices.
Alibaba Cloud Management Console: The AI Assistant is embedded in the console. You can enter instructions directly on the web page. Query results are returned in Markdown format.
DingTalk Robot: In a DingTalk group chat, you can use the at sign (@) to mention the robot and send instructions, such as "check bill" or "restart instance". Results are returned as cards.
WeCom Robot: In a WeCom group chat, you can use the at sign (@) to mention the robot and send instructions, such as "check bill" or "restart instance". Results are returned as cards.
Core value:
Simplified O&M flow: Use natural language instructions instead of navigating through multi-level menus. This lowers the learning curve.
Improved response efficiency: Perform batch resource operations and respond quickly in emergencies. This significantly reduces processing time.
O&M anytime, anywhere: After you configure a DingTalk robot, you can manage resources directly from your mobile phone without logging on to the console.
Intelligent decision-making with visualization: Automatically generate resource trend charts to help with capacity planning and cost optimization.
2. Scenarios
Scenario Type |
Pain Point |
Solution |
Emergency fault response |
Response is delayed because a computer is not available. |
You can send the instruction "stop the abnormal ECS instance and scale out" in a DingTalk group to quickly complete the operation. |
Batch resource management |
Manual, one-by-one operations are error-prone. |
You can enter "stop all idle staging environment instances". The AI Assistant automatically filters the instances and performs the batch operation. |
Global resource analysis |
Frequent switching between regions and product consoles is required. |
You can enter region and cloud product information, such as Beijing RDS. The AI Assistant can then query information about any cloud product in any region. |
Mobile O&M |
Inability to log on to the console causes decision-making delays. |
From the airport, you can query "this month's bill" in a DingTalk group on your phone. After you compare the bill with your budget, you can send the "shutdown non-essential instances" instruction to save costs. |
Usage
1. Enable the AI Assistant in the console
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud CloudOps Orchestration Service console. In the menu bar on the right, find and click OOS AI Assistant. Then, enable the feature.
Click a preset question or enter your request to start a conversation with the OOS AI Assistant.
2. Integrate the OOS AI Assistant with a DingTalk robot
For more information, see the OOS AI Assistant configuration guide for DingTalk Robot.
3. Integrate the OOS AI Assistant with a WeCom robot
For more information, see the OOS AI Assistant configuration guide for WeCom Robot.
4. Security controls
Default secondary confirmation: All write operations, such as deleting or stopping instances, automatically trigger a secondary confirmation. No extra settings are required.
Permission assignment: You can use RAM roles to restrict the instructions that users can run. For example, a RAM role can limit the 'test group' to stopping only the instances in the staging environment.
