Create a service instance

This topic defines a service instance, describes its features and limitations, and explains how to create a service instance, bind or unbind real numbers, and perform other related operations in the Voice Service console.

Prerequisites

Usage

Because each real number has a concurrent outbound call limit, a single number cannot handle a large volume of simultaneous outbound calls, such as when executing voice tasks or making frequent API calls for voice notification or voice verification code. To address this, you can bind multiple real numbers to a service instance. When making outbound calls, use the service instance to dispatch an available real number from the pool. This approach meets high-concurrency demands, improves call efficiency, and ensures service stability and compliance.

  • Service instance definition: A service instance is a logical group for your real numbers, identified by an ID in the format 05710000XXXX. Its primary function is to dispatch an available real number for an outbound call. The caller ID displayed to the recipient is the real number used for the call. For more information, see Definition of a service instance.

  • A service instance with no real numbers bound to it is unusable.

  • Service instance fees: A service instance does not incur monthly rental fees. However, you must bind real numbers to use it, and charges for the real numbers apply. For more information about these charges, see Voice number pricing.

Create a service instance

  1. Log on to the Voice Service console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Service Instance > Service Instance Management.

  3. On the service instance management page, click create instance.

A qualification can only be used to create instances for a single purpose and scenario. Mixed use is not allowed. You must specify the qualification, instance purpose, instance scenario, and instance name. The name prefix is automatically displayed in the "Purpose-Scenario" format and is limited to 10 characters.

  4. Click Create to complete the process.

Bind real numbers

Important

Due to a policy adjustment, starting from 00:00 on January 17, 2025 (UTC+8), you can only bind a service instance and a real number if they share the same enterprise name (associated with the same qualification information at the time of creation). If their enterprise names do not match, the binding will fail. If you receive an error about mismatched enterprise names during the binding process, view the enterprise name associated with the real number on the Real Number Management page in the Voice Service console. Then, on the Qualification Management page, search for the corresponding qualification by enterprise name, create a new service instance under it, and retry the binding. Thank you for your understanding.

You can bind up to 200 real numbers to a service instance in a single operation. If you have more than 200 numbers, you can bind them in multiple batches.

  1. Log on to the Voice Service console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose service instance > service instance management.

  3. On the Service Instance page, find the instance you want to manage and click Bind Real Number in the Actions column. You can manually enter the real numbers or import them by using a template as prompted.

A dialog box appears, indicating that you can only bind numbers that share the same purpose and scenario. When importing manually, you can enter up to 200 numbers, each on a new line.

  4. Click OK.

Unbind real numbers

Before you unbind real numbers, we recommend that you assess the potential impact on your services.

  1. Log on to the Voice Service console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose service instance > service instance management.

  3. On the Service Instance Management page, find the instance you want to manage and click Unbind Real Number in the Actions column. You can manually enter the real numbers to unbind or import them by using a template.

In the dialog box, choose Manual Import or Batch Import. For manual import, you can enter multiple numbers (up to 200), with each number on a new line. When you are finished, click OK.

Related operations

Configuration management

  1. Log on to the Voice Service console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose service instance > service instance management.

  3. On the service instance management page, find the instance you want to manage and click configuration management in the Actions column.

  4. On the Configuration Management page, you can enable Enable Retry and Instance Rule Matching, and use Set Failover City (requires Instance Rule Matching to be enabled).

If you enable Instance Rule Matching, the default system policy prioritizes the callee's location. The system executes the rules in the following order: 1. Same province and city first. 2. Provincial capital in the same province first.

  5. Click OK.

Connection rate report

  1. Log on to the Voice Service console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose service instance > service instance management.

  3. On the Service Instance Management page, click Connection Rate Analysis to open the connection rate report details page. You can generate reports based on dimensions such as time and number. Click the download icon in the upper-right corner to save the connection rate report for the current dimension.

The time granularity can be set to 1 Minute, 5 Minutes, Hour, or Day. Historical data is retained for three months. The report table includes fields such as Real Number, Number Status, Location, Call Attempts, Ringing Rate, Connection Rate, and Activation Time.
