Background information

Users of Alibaba Cloud Workspace fall into the following roles:

  • End user: A person who uses Alibaba Cloud Workspace services through a WUYING Terminal. For example, a designer at a design firm.

  • Administrator: An IT staff member responsible for purchasing and renewing resources, creating and assigning resources, creating and binding policies, performing O&M and monitoring, and managing end users. For example, the IT administrator at a design company.

Prerequisites

  • Your administrator has created an end user account and assigned Alibaba Cloud Workspace resources to you. If you are an administrator, you must first purchase and assign cloud resources as described in the following topics:

  • You have obtained the login credentials required to log in to the client. After an administrator purchases and assigns Alibaba Cloud Workspace resources, you will receive login credentials, including an organization ID or office network ID, a username, and a password. How you find your login credentials depends on the end user account type and activation type created by the administrator:

    Note

For more information about end user account types and their differences, see End user account systems.

    • Convenience account

      • Administrator-activated: The administrator configures the credentials and password reset notifications in the EDS console and provides them to the end user offline. App Streaming supports only administrator-activated convenience accounts.

      • User-activated: Credentials and password reset notifications are sent to the end user's email address or phone number.

    • Enterprise Active Directory (AD) account: The administrator provides the credentials to the end user offline.

  • Ensure the correct network access type (Internet or VPC) is set. Your administrator determines this setting. By default, it is Internet. To change it, open the mobile client and, before you log on, go to My > Network Accessing Type and select the correct network access type.

  • If the network access type is set to VPC, you can choose to use a fixed address or a custom address. The specific option is determined by your Enterprise Edition administrator. For more information, see Step 2: Configure a VPC address or cloud service route.

    Note

The minimum client version required for this feature is V8.0.

Procedure

  1. Open the client and confirm that you are on the Enterprise & Business screen. If not, tap Switch to Enterprise & Business in the upper-right corner.

  2. Choose a logon method.

    Account sign-in

When you go to the logon screen, the account sign-in method is selected by default. If not, tap Account Sign-in.

    1. Enter the organization ID or office network ID from your logon credentials, and then tap the arrow icon.

      Note

If you log on with an organization ID, you can access all Alibaba Cloud Workspace resources that are associated with your end user account, regardless of which office network the resources belong to. If you log on with an office network ID, you can access only the Alibaba Cloud Workspace resources that are associated with your end user account and belong to that specific office network. For more information about the differences between the two types of IDs, see Configure logon methods.

    2. Perform one of the following operations based on whether your administrator has enabled single sign-on (SSO) for the organization ID or office network:

      What is single sign-on (SSO)?

Single sign-on (SSO), also known as federated logon, is a secure access method that lets users access multiple applications. With SSO, users log on once to access all other mutually trusted systems.

      • If SSO is not enabled, enter the username and custom password from your logon credentials, and then tap the arrow icon.

        Note
        • When you log on for the first time, use the initial password from your logon credentials and follow the prompts to set your custom password. For all subsequent logons, use the custom password.

        • If the initial password has expired or you have forgotten your custom password, tap Forgot Password and follow the prompts to reset it.

        Important

Entering an incorrect password 10 consecutive times locks your account for 20 minutes.

      • If SSO is enabled, enter your SSO username and password as prompted, and then tap the arrow icon.

    Text message sign-in

    Note

If your administrator has enabled the text message sign-in feature, you can also sign in to the client by using the phone number associated with your account and a verification code sent to that number. For information about how an administrator enables this feature, see Sign in with a text message verification code.

Click Sign in with Text Message, enter your phone number, and click Get Code. Then, enter the verification code from the text message and click the icon. To remain signed in for a period of time, select Auto Sign-in.

  3. (Conditional) If your administrator has enabled multi-factor authentication (MFA), enter the dynamic code generated by your virtual MFA device or the verification code that you receive via SMS or email.

    What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a simple and effective security practice. If MFA is enabled for an office network or organization ID, users must provide two security factors to log on:

    • First security factor: Enter your username and password.

    • Second security factor: Enter the dynamic code generated by a virtual MFA device or the verification code received via SMS or email.

      Note

A virtual MFA device uses the Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) algorithm, which is a widely used multi-factor authentication protocol. Applications on a mobile phone or other device that support TOTP (such as the Alibaba Cloud app, Google Authenticator, and Microsoft Authenticator) are called virtual MFA devices. If a user enables a virtual MFA device, Alibaba Cloud requires you to enter the 6-digit dynamic code from the application during logon. This prevents unauthorized access if your password is stolen.

For more information about MFA, see Set up MFA for logon.

    Note

If your IT administrator has enabled TOTP dynamic codes, follow the prompts to bind a virtual MFA device when you log on for the first time. You can use any application that generates TOTP codes, such as the Alibaba Cloud app and the Google Authenticator app.

  4. (Conditional) If your administrator has enabled client logon verification, you must enter a verification code from your email when logging on from a new device.

    Note

Client logon verification is applicable only when the network access type is Internet. It is not applicable when the network access type is VPC.

  5. After you log on, your Alibaba Cloud Workspace services appear as cards or icons. Tap a service icon to start it.

    Note

If a cloud computer is in the stopped or hibernated state, start or wake it up first.

FAQ

What do I do if I do not have the required sign-in credentials?

Contact your administrator. Sign-in credentials are sent to the email address or phone number after an administrator creates your account and assigns resources. If you do not know the associated email address or phone number, contact your administrator. If you are an administrator, follow the instructions in the Prerequisites section to create an end user account and assign resources.

What do I do if my initial password expires or I forget my password?

On the account sign-in screen, click Forgot Password and follow the prompts to enter your username and enterprise email address or phone number. The system sends a new initial password to your email or by text message. Use this initial password to set a new custom password.

Note
  • Only convenience accounts support password resets from the client. For an Enterprise AD account, contact your administrator to reset your password, as these accounts are managed by your Enterprise AD.

  • When you reset your password, if an error message indicating an incorrect email address or phone number appears and the error persists after multiple attempts, contact your administrator.

What do I do if no cloud computer is displayed or a "Failed to assign cloud computer resources" message appears after I sign in?

Cloud computers are assigned by administrators. If you cannot find a cloud computer after logging in to the client, contact your administrator. For more information, see What do I do if I cannot see any cloud computers after logging in to the client?.

For more frequently asked questions, see Client FAQ.
