Download and sign in to client

Updated at:

Get the Alibaba Cloud Workspace software client and sign in as an end user of Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise Edition.

Prerequisites

  • Your administrator has created an end user account for you and assigned a cloud desktop. If you are the administrator, purchase and assign cloud desktops as described in the following topics:

  • You have the credentials to sign in to the client. After your administrator purchases and assigns cloud desktops, you receive sign-in credentials as an end user, including the organization ID or office network ID, username, and password. How you find your credentials depends on the end user account type that your administrator created and the activation type:

    Note

For information about end user account types and their differences, see End user overview.

    • Convenience account

      • Administrator activation: Your administrator sets the sign-in credentials, password reset notifications, and other information for the end user account in the EDS console and provides them to you.

      • User activation: The sign-in credentials, password reset notifications, and other information for the end user account are sent to your email address or mobile number.

    • Enterprise AD (Active Directory) account: Your administrator provides the details to you offline.

Sign in to the client

This topic uses signing in to the desktop client as an example. The steps for the mobile and web clients are similar. For details, see Sign in to the mobile client and Sign in to the web client.

  1. Open the desktop client.

  2. At the top, select Enterprise Edition & Business Edition. At the bottom, accept the privacy policy.

  3. Select a sign-in method.

    Account Sign-in

When you open the sign-in page, the Account Sign-in method is selected by default. If it is not selected, click Account Sign-in.

    1. Enter the organization ID or office network ID from your sign-in credentials, and then click the icon.

      Note

When you sign in with an organization ID, you can access all Alibaba Cloud Workspace resources under the current end user account, regardless of the office network to which they belong. When you sign in with an office network ID, you can access only the resources that belong to that office network under the current end user account. For details about the differences between the two IDs, see Configure logon methods.

    2. Do one of the following, depending on whether your administrator has enabled single sign-on (SSO) for the organization ID or office network:

      • If SSO is not enabled, enter the username from your sign-in credentials and your custom password, and then click the icon. To avoid signing in again for a period of time after you sign in, select Auto Sign-in.

        • On your first sign-in, enter the initial password from your sign-in credentials and set your custom password as prompted. Use this custom password for all subsequent sign-ins.

        • The initial password is valid for 3 days. If you are prompted that the password has expired when you sign in, or if you forget your custom password, click Forgot Password and reset the password as prompted.

        • Enter the correct password when you sign in to the client. If you enter an incorrect password 10 consecutive times, the system automatically locks the account for 20 minutes, and you cannot enter a password during this period.

      • If SSO is enabled, enter the SSO username and password as prompted on the page, and then click the icon.

    SMS Sign-in

If your administrator has enabled SMS sign-in, you can also sign in to the client with the mobile number bound to your account and the verification code sent to that number. To enable SMS sign-in, see Configure logon methods.

Click SMS Sign-in, enter your mobile number, click Get Verification Code, enter the verification code that you received in the SMS message, and then click the icon. To avoid signing in again for a period of time after you sign in, select Auto Sign-in.

    QR Code Sign-in

If you are already signed in to the Android or iOS client, you can sign in by scanning a QR code.

    1. Open the Android client or iOS client. In the upper-right corner of the cloud resource list page, click the icon, and then scan the QR code on the sign-in page of the desktop client.

      Note

Only Android and iOS clients of V7.0 and later support QR code sign-in.

    2. On the Sign-in Confirmation page of the Android or iOS client, click Confirm.

  4. (Optional) If the administrator has enabled multi-factor device authentication, you must enter the one-time passcode generated by the virtual MFA device or the verification code received by SMS or email.

    What is MFA?

After you enable MFA for an office network or for an organization, the system verifies two security factors each time an end user logs on:

    • First factor: The username and password of the end user.

    • Second factor: The dynamic password generated by a virtual MFA device, or the verification code that the end user receives in an SMS message or in an email.

    Virtual MFA devices

The Time-based One-Time Password algorithm (TOTP) is a widely adopted multi-factor authentication protocol. Applications that support TOTP on a mobile phone or another device, such as the Alibaba Cloud app, Google Authenticator, and Microsoft Authenticator, are called virtual MFA devices.

After you enable MFA and an end user binds a virtual MFA device, Alibaba Cloud requires the end user to enter the six-digit dynamic password generated by the application at each logon. This prevents unauthorized logons that result from a stolen password.

For more information, refer to Configure multi-factor authentication (MFA).

  5. After you sign in, Alibaba Cloud Workspace services are displayed as cards or icons. Click a cloud service icon to enter.

    Note

If a cloud desktop is in the Stopped or Hibernated state, start or wake it first.

Next steps

After you sign in, you can view, use, and manage the cloud resources assigned to you. For details about how to use these resources, see the following topics:
