Use cost visualization tools to analyze spending, compare budgets with actuals, and optimize savings plan utilization.

After you allocate costs, use visualization tools to analyze spending across dimensions and identify optimization opportunities.

Cost analysis

Regular multi-dimensional cost analysis helps identify business issues and optimization opportunities.

You can use the Cost Analysis tool to view cost trends for up to 12 months, analyze cost structure, and predict future trends. Save filtered data as reports for quick access.

  • Display costs by month, day, or hour. View bills by product, product detail, cost center, account, resource group, or tag.

  • Predict spending trends for up to 12 months to understand long-term cost patterns.

  • Subscribe to reports or save frequently used analysis dimensions as reports for quick reuse.

  • Export cost analysis results to share within your organization.

Compare budgets with actual spending

Create a budget, set monitoring thresholds for automatic alerts, and track budget performance. Use the estimate-to-actual comparison feature to compare budgets with actual spending. Review budget information, cumulative spending, and estimate-to-actual comparisons for each rolling period.

  • The trend report shows cumulative actual spending and predicted totals, with monthly growth trends.

  • The current-period report shows actual and predicted values with their percentages of the budget amount.

  • Budget records list predicted, actual, and budget values for each rolling period, along with the variance.

  • The detailed report shows transaction details for a single rolling period with spending mapped to dates.

Savings plan utilization

Savings plans — including reserved instances, Storage Capacity Units (SCUs), PolarDB compute plans, and resource plans — offset pay-as-you-go usage at lower unit prices.

Regularly check savings plan utilization and coverage reports to avoid waste from expiration or cost increases from insufficient purchases. Low utilization means over-provisioned plans; low coverage means under-provisioned plans. Manage your plans through resource instances.

Analyze and predict cost trends

Beyond historical analysis, predict future costs to support budget management and financial planning.

The Cost Prediction tool supports two scenarios: budget management and cost analysis.

• In budget management, predict costs for up to 12 months by account, owner account, cost center, product, product detail, region, and consumption type.

• Set alerts for predicted costs that trigger when a threshold is reached.

• In cost analysis, monthly predictions cover up to 12 months and daily predictions cover up to 90 days.

Adopt cost optimization suggestions

Cost Optimization provides usage recommendations for some of your cloud resource instances to reduce spending.

Your cost health score shows the overall score, optimizable items, and estimated savings potential.

Cost Optimization includes multiple scenario-specific tools. Suggestions are simulated based on historical bills, product features, and discounts, and may differ from actual results. These suggestions are for reference only. Validate against your business needs before implementation and monitor results.
