Cloud gaming FAQ
This topic answers frequently asked questions about cloud gaming on Elastic Desktop Service Individual Edition, including Lingdou billing, game content updates, image quality adjustments, and gamepad support.
Billing and Lingdou
How to exit a cloud game and stop billing
In the game, select Exit to Desktop. Then, click the floating ball > Disconnect. In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click Exit Game.
If you close only the game window without using the floating ball to disconnect, you may continue to be billed. After you complete the procedure, a short delay may occur before the game status and Lingdou usage details are updated. This is normal.
Why is my game still "In Use" after I exit?
After you exit a cloud game, status synchronization is slightly delayed, typically taking a few minutes. Lingdou usage details are generated every 10 minutes and aggregated hourly, so charge details may also appear with a delay.
If the status remains "In Use" for an extended period, try closing the Wuying Cloud Desktop client and reconnecting to check the status.
Is there a minimum charge for each game session?
Yes, a minimum Lingdou charge applies each time you start a cloud game. Even if you disconnect immediately after launching, this minimum charge is still deducted. The minimum charge per launch is based on the rates published in the Individual Edition Billing Description.
What happens if I run out of Lingdou?
If you run out of Lingdou, you cannot continue playing games. You must first purchase a Lingdou package.
Are there charges for playing cloud games?
Running cloud games consumes Lingdou from a shared Lingdou package, which is a paid service. Before you play, ensure you have purchased a shared Lingdou package for your Individual Edition account. For details, see Types and pricing.
Whether the game itself requires a separate purchase depends on the specific game.
Subscription plan Lingdou and runtime
The runtime depends on the cloud desktop's specification mode, which determines its computing resources (vCPUs, memory, and GPU memory). You can select a specification mode for the session each time you start the cloud desktop.
The hourly Lingdou consumption varies by specification mode:
economy mode: 4 Lingdou/hour.
smooth mode: 8 Lingdou/hour.
performance mode: 16 Lingdou/hour.
gaming mode: 60 Lingdou/hour.
The basic Lingdou included in each cloud desktop subscription plan supports the following approximate runtime in gaming mode:
Each Platinum subscription period (1 month) includes 160 Lingdou, which supports approximately 2.6 hours in gaming mode.
Each Titanium subscription period (1 month) includes 320 Lingdou, which supports approximately 5.3 hours in gaming mode.
Each Black Gold subscription period (1 month) includes 640 Lingdou, which supports approximately 10.6 hours in gaming mode.
To ensure an uninterrupted gaming experience, consider purchasing additional shared Lingdou packages. For details, see Types and pricing.
Cloud games and cloud desktops
Cloud games, cloud desktops, and Lingdou
Cloud games and cloud desktops are two separate services. You do not need to purchase a cloud desktop subscription plan to play cloud games; you only need a sufficient Lingdou balance. Conversely, if you only purchase Lingdou without a cloud desktop subscription plan, you can use the cloud gaming service but cannot access a cloud desktop.
If you need full cloud desktop functionality, such as installing your own software or using gaming mode, you must purchase an Individual Edition cloud desktop subscription plan. Lingdou can be used to pay for both cloud desktop and cloud game usage.
If you have both a cloud desktop (for example, in gaming mode) and a cloud game running simultaneously, they consume Lingdou separately. If you only want to play cloud games, you can shut down your cloud desktop to avoid unnecessary charges.
Unlike software installed on a cloud desktop, game data for cloud games is not stored on your local device and does not consume local storage space.
Are games installed on my cloud desktop saved?
Yes. A cloud desktop functions like a personal computer. Software and games you install remain on the cloud desktop for your next session.
What is a cloud desktop subscription plan?
Individual Edition cloud desktops are available through a subscription model with a 1-month subscription period. The following subscription modes are supported:
One-time purchase mode: Subscribe for only one month.
Auto-renewal subscription mode: You pay for the first month at the time of purchase, and subsequent monthly fees are automatically deducted from your Alipay account.
Individual Edition offers multiple subscription plans. Plans differ mainly in data disk capacity and the amount of included Lingdou.
What is a Lingdou package?
A Lingdou package is a bundle that contains a specific amount of Lingdou. It can be used for Lingdou deduction across all cloud desktops (excluding time-based plans) and cloud games under your account.
Lingdou packages have an expiration date. Any unused Lingdou is forfeited upon expiration.
If you run out of the Lingdou included in your cloud desktop subscription plan before the plan expires, your cloud desktop shuts down and becomes unavailable. To resume usage, you can either wait for your Lingdou quota to be restored next month or purchase a Lingdou package for immediate access.
Unlike cloud desktops, cloud games do not require a subscription plan and can be run directly by using Lingdou from a Lingdou package.
Configuration for Black Myth: Wukong
Cloud desktop subscription plan: The plan determines the disk space and included Lingdou for your cloud desktop. Because the game files require at least 120 GiB of data disk space, you must select the Platinum, Titanium, or Black Gold plan.
Cloud desktop specification mode: The specification mode determines the computing performance. You must select a specification mode each time you start the cloud desktop. To play this game, you must select gaming mode.
Subscription plans and instance specifications
A cloud desktop subscription plan determines the disk space and included Lingdou, and does not directly correspond to an instance specification. You must select a specification mode before you start a cloud desktop, and this mode determines the computing specifications for that session.
Gaming mode inventory and reservations
The gaming mode uses GPU resources, but capacity is limited. Resource reservation for individual users is not currently supported.
How to upgrade a subscription plan
If your cloud desktop's disk capacity or network bandwidth no longer meets your needs, you can upgrade your plan or network bandwidth. If you have an auto-renewal subscription, the renewal will be based on the upgraded plan.

Upgrade individual configurations
Yes. If your cloud desktop's disk capacity or network bandwidth no longer meets your needs, you can upgrade them individually. For specific steps, see How to upgrade a subscription plan.
Purchase limits for cloud desktops
Possible reasons include:
You have reached the purchase limit. You can own a maximum of five individual cloud desktops. If you have previously redeemed a cloud desktop by using Yingzuan, this limit also includes any deleted cloud desktops in the mini program's recycle bin.
You have an unpaid order. In this case, please complete the payment promptly.
How to change the cloud desktop image
You can change the image for your cloud desktop if, for example, you selected the Steam image when creating it and now want to switch to the WeGame image, or vice versa. For detailed steps, see Install games on a cloud desktop.
Game content and updates
Game not available on the platform
Due to game licensing restrictions, the cloud gaming platform offers a limited selection of games. You can play only the games that are provided on the platform and cannot add your own.
If you want to play a game that is not available on the cloud gaming platform, you can purchase an Individual Edition cloud desktop subscription plan, enable the GPU by selecting gaming mode at startup, and then download and install the game yourself. The gaming mode has a higher Lingdou consumption rate (60 Lingdou/hour). For specific rates, refer to the Individual Edition billing description.
Because cloud desktops run in a virtualized environment, some games with anti-virtual machine detection (anti-cheat mechanisms), such as Delta Force, CrossFire (CF), CS:GO, and Valorant, may not run even if installed manually. This is a limitation of the games themselves. Before purchasing a cloud desktop, confirm that your game is compatible with a virtual machine environment.
Save progress in single-player games
When you play a single-player game such as Black Myth: Wukong on a Wuying Cloud Desktop, your progress is not lost after shutdown, as long as the game save file is stored on the cloud desktop's disk.
If you are using the Steam version of a game, we recommend that you enable the Steam Cloud Sync feature and confirm that the save status shows "Up to Date" before you exit the game. This helps prevent progress loss due to unexpected disconnections.
Losing Steam cloud saves
Steam cloud saves are stored on Steam's servers, not on the cloud game instance of Elastic Desktop Service Individual Edition. Before you start or after you exit a game, always wait for the Steam Cloud sync to complete. That is, wait for the status to show Up to Date. If you close or exit the cloud game directly without waiting, you risk losing your Steam cloud saves.
Game freezes on first launch
This occurs because the game included in the image that was used to create your cloud desktop is an older version that needs to compile shaders on the first launch. This is a one-time, unskippable configuration required by the game that takes about 10 minutes. The cloud desktop images have been updated. The games included in the new image versions do not require this step. We recommend that you change your cloud desktop image to the latest version. For detailed steps, see Install games on a cloud desktop.
Game prompts for an update on launch
This may happen if the image that was used to create your cloud desktop contains an older version of the game. You can resolve this issue by changing your cloud desktop image to the latest version. This updates the game to the latest version, so you do not need to download the update within the cloud desktop. For detailed steps, see Install games on a cloud desktop.
Losing game saves after shutdown
No. As long as the game saves are stored on the cloud desktop's disk, they will not be lost after shutdown. The Steam client also offers a cloud sync feature. If enabled, your saves are synced to the cloud. Before you launch a game, check your cloud sync status.
Operations and settings
Switch to a browser for login
Some games, such as World of Warcraft, require you to open a browser to log in. If a white screen appears when you switch to the browser, follow these steps:
Click the floating ball, go to Preferences > Controls, and enable capture cursor.
Try to open the login page in the Edge browser.
To temporarily release the cursor and switch back to your local desktop, press the Esc key twice or use the Ctrl+Alt+2 shortcut.
Adjust image quality
If you are not satisfied with the image quality, you can adjust it. Click the floating ball, go to Manage > Preferences > Image, and then select a higher quality mode.
For a smooth experience, we recommend a local network bandwidth of 25 Mbps or higher and a latency of less than 30 ms.
Gamepad support on iPad or mobile phone
Currently, gamepads, including Xbox gamepads and Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers, are supported only when you connect to a cloud desktop from the Windows client. Due to system limitations on mobile devices such as iPads, connecting a gamepad through the Wuying client is not supported.
To use a gamepad, we recommend connecting to your cloud desktop from a computer and attaching the gamepad.
Cloud game card not visible
You may be using an unsupported client type or version. Cloud gaming is supported only on the Windows client and macOS client (V7.5 or later), and the Android client (V7.8 or later). Go to the Wuying Client Download Page to download the latest client version.
You may have selected the wrong product edition in the client. Do not log in to the Enterprise and Commercial editions. Cloud gaming is supported only in the Individual Edition.
Prompted to download an existing game
The game should launch automatically. If you are prompted to download the game, the game disk may not be mounted correctly. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Open the Steam client and select Steam > Settings.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Storage.
On the Storage panel, click the Local Drives drop-down list and click Add Drive.
Perform one of the following operations:
If you see an unmounted D drive, mount it.
If you do not see an unmounted D drive, exit the cloud game, wait for at least 3 minutes, and then re-enter.
Cannot click the floating ball to disconnect
When you enter a cloud game, the Wuying client automatically optimizes mouse controls by confining the cursor to the game window. This ensures proper in-game character rotation but prevents you from clicking the floating ball.
Press the Esc key twice or use a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+2 for Windows; Ctrl+Option+2 for macOS) to release the mouse from the game window. You can then move the cursor freely and click the floating ball.
What should I do if I receive a D3D11-compatible GPU error when launching a game in the Steam client?
This error indicates that the cloud desktop is not running in gaming mode and therefore does not have a GPU. Restart the cloud desktop and select gaming mode.
WeGame client prompts for game download
If your cloud desktop is based on an image with pre-installed games, you do not need to download the game again. Follow these steps to add the existing game from the data disk to the client's recognized application list:
In the WeGame client, click your profile picture in the upper-right corner and select All Apps.
Click the + icon in the upper-left corner and select Manually Add App in the dialog box.
In the Select Folder window, navigate to the folder that contains the game application,
D:\WeGameApps\rail_apps\BlackMythWukong(2002122), and click Select Folder in the lower-right corner.
Game stuttering or poor graphics quality
High-quality graphics and high frame rates require significant local network bandwidth. If you experience stuttering or lag, try the following steps to improve performance:
On the cloud desktop, click the floating ball, go to Manage > Preferences > Display, and lower the resolution. We recommend that you set it to 1920×1080.
On the cloud desktop, click the floating ball, go to Manage > Preferences > Image, and select the Fluency First mode.
Disable ray tracing in the game's settings.
Cannot reselect gaming mode after restart
Go to the Wuying Client Download Page to download the latest version. For the Windows client or macOS client, ensure that your version is V7.5 or later.
Gamepad not working
Cloud desktops support only specific gamepad models. For detailed information about gamepad compatibility, see Configure a gamepad.
What can I do if the mouse cannot rotate 360 degrees or stutters in the macOS client?
