Cloud computer usage

You primarily use Enterprise cloud computers and Commercial cloud computers through the Alibaba Cloud Workspace client and tools such as DesktopAssistant, Cloud Computer Manager, and the Wuying application center.

Usage notes

Before using a cloud computer for the first time, read the following notes.

Enterprise

  • DesktopAssistant, typically displayed on the desktop, is the entry point for various cloud computer management features. When you move it close to the screen's edge, it automatically collapses into a small tab. Click the tab to expand DesktopAssistant again.

  • In full-screen mode, click DesktopAssistant and then click Exit Fullscreen on the menu to exit full-screen mode.

  • If you cannot access the internet from your cloud computer, contact your administrator to enable internet access. A proxy enabled on the cloud computer may also cause the issue. Try disabling the proxy.

  • Using a VPN or proxy on your local device or within the cloud computer can cause connection issues. Avoid using a VPN and disable any proxies.

  • Disconnecting from a cloud computer does not shut it down. For pay-as-you-go or subscription cloud computers, shut down or hibernate the cloud computer promptly after disconnecting to avoid unnecessary charges. Alternatively, configure a scheduled stop policy to automatically shut down or hibernate the cloud computer after disconnection.

  • If you are using a temporary cloud computer, avoid storing personal data on it to prevent data loss.

Commercial

  • In full-screen mode, click DesktopAssistant and then click Exit Fullscreen on the menu to exit full-screen mode.

  • If your cloud computer is idle for 15 minutes, it automatically hibernates. After hibernation, running processes are preserved. You can wake the cloud computer to resume these processes.

Cloud computer card

After you log on to the Alibaba Cloud Workspace client, your cloud computers appear as cards by default. You can perform common management tasks directly from a cloud computer card.

Important

This topic uses the macOS client V7.10 as an example.

  • Manage the power of the cloud computer (start, shut down, restart, and hibernate). [Manage and maintain cloud computers]

  • Upgrade the Alibaba Cloud Workspace components. [Manage and maintain cloud computers]

  • Click Manage on a cloud computer card to open its management panel, which includes the Info, Restore Points, Policies, and Images tabs.

  • On the Info tab, you can view the cloud computer's basic information, configuration, and billing details. [View cloud computer information]

  • On the Restore Points tab, you can back up data by creating a custom restore point, or restore data from an existing restore point. [Back up and restore cloud computer data]

  • On the Policies tab, you can view or change the scheduled stop policy and other policies that your administrator configured for the cloud computer. [Manage policies]

  • On the Images tab, you can view the cloud computer's image information and reset the computer by restoring its initial image. [Restore data]

DesktopAssistant

DesktopAssistant is a helpful tool that integrates various management features and utilities for your cloud computer.

  1. Displays the total usage duration in days and the connection duration of the current session.

  2. Manage the cloud computer's connection, power, and display. [Manage and maintain cloud computers | Adjust the cloud computer display | Adjust the cloud computer display]

    Note

    Only the Windows client supports minimizing a cloud computer that is in full-screen mode.

  3. You can ask the AI Assistant about your cloud computer.

    Note

    This feature is available only if your administrator has enabled AI Assistant in the cloud computer's policy.

  4. Open Cloud Computer Manager. [Use Cloud Computer Manager]

    This feature is available only if your administrator has enabled Cloud Computer Manager in the cloud computer's policy.

  5. Open the management panel to set preferences, view cloud computer information, or manage policies. [Set keyboard and mouse modes]

  6. View messages, including management, system, and marketing notifications. [View notification messages]

  7. View the cloud computer's monitoring metrics, such as CPU load, network latency, and frame rate. [View status monitoring metrics]

    Note

    This feature is available only if your administrator has enabled Status Monitoring in the cloud computer's policy.

  8. Detect and resolve keyboard and mouse issues.

  9. Manage peripherals and printers for the cloud computer. [Configure peripheral access]

  10. Send a remote assistance request to your administrator to troubleshoot issues with your cloud computer. [remote assistance]

    Note

    This feature is available only if your administrator has enabled the User requests for administrator assistance policy on the cloud computer.

  11. Initiate or join a collaboration session with other users on the same cloud computer. [Collaboration]

    Note

    This feature is available only if your administrator has enabled User Stream Collaboration in the cloud computer's policy.

  12. Open the system Task Manager on a Windows cloud computer.

  13. Open the Security Center on a Windows cloud computer.

    Note

    This feature is available only if your administrator has enabled the Windows Image Security Center Shortcut Key policy on the cloud computer.

  14. Easily transfer files between the cloud computer and your local device.

    Note

    This feature is available only if your administrator has set the clipboard copy permission to an option other than Deny Bidirectional in the cloud computer's policy.

  15. Mirror the cloud computer screen to a Wuying conference screen.

    Note

    This feature is available only if your administrator has enabled Screen Mirroring in the cloud computer's policy.

Cloud Computer Manager

Cloud Computer Manager is a built-in application that allows you to view basic information, optimize performance, manage peripherals, and submit product suggestions. [Use Cloud Computer Manager]

Wuying application center
